Strange thing happened to my 08 coupe
I opened the faceplate to swap cds
When I closed it, it said insert Nav DVD
I opened it again and ejected the Nav DVD, nothing came out
I ejected the CD, nothing came out
Now the faceplate won't close
I know there is a cd in the player and I know I didn't take the Nav DVD out
What's up with that???
Any help is appreciated
Same thing happened on my 08Z. If you look down at the display it is probably switching between displays and having other issues. I have GMPP so took it to the dealer. They tried everything including downloading an updated S/W load. No Go. They replaced the unit with a reman unit. Cost through dealer was $1295 for the part. Didn't cost me a cent with the GMPP. That one repair was worth more than half what I paid for my 7 year plan.
Unsure if this is of any help; But my 06 Sat Nav unit got stuck in the closed position. Sent it to a mate whom is a retired repair shop guy and he replaced a "electronic switch" piece which cost $7 and I've had no issues since.
Pulling the fuse got the unit to rest to the point I can close the faceplate
It stills asks for the DVD, which I know is in there
When I try to eject it the door locks up
I wonder if there is a manual way to get the disc out, paper clip or something like that
I hate to go to the dealer
any ideas?
No reason to fear the dealer. Problems with dealers are way overhyped by people who don't treat them correctly when they walk in the door. What do you do when an A$$hole comes into your place of business. Yes, there are some bad dealers but replacing the Nav unit is a piece of cake for somebody who has the correct tools and knows how GM snaps things together.
They like working with GMPP and basically you already paid for this service so why not use it.
