Default Dash Light Dimmer Switch

My dash dimmer switch isn't working in my C6 ZO6. The switches are cheap and seem like the wiring just plugs in. I am wondering high difficult it is to physically change this switch? How about some honest advice from some of you guys that have actually changed this switch. Thanks!!

Just to be sure it's really broken:

When the headlights are on, you brighten or dim the dash lights by rotating (clockwise or counterclockwise) and holding the switch for xx seconds until the lighting is where you want it, then release the switch and the lights stay at that level.

Not to insult you, but lots of people have been confused by this design.

Just to add, you can hit it with your knee and the light stays on until it timesout.

I know thats been said here many times but honestly I dont see how its physically possible. Sitting in mine my knee is nowhere near that switch and I would have to struggle to get it there to purposfully to hit the switch.

Yup! I don't know if it from getting in and out, or maybe when you push in the clutch, but I do it sometimes.

Absolutely no insult taken! I had a C5 ZO6 for about a year, and I've had my C6 Z for about 2 months. I'm one of them guys that appreciate info on things that other people know far better than myself, like this dimmer switch. I am going to try your suggestion right now. Thanks for your help. Doug

I think my legs are too short for this to happen.

You taught me something new today, and I really appreciate it! If I follow your instructions the dimmer switch works perfectly! Thanks again, Jim.

I know I should have looked it up in the Owners Manual. I was going through the manual when I first got the car, but then I decided to see how the navigation system worked. Big mistake on my old school technology knowledge. I admit I'm an old fool. I'm not up on the latest technology, but when it comes to driving a 505 hp vette you would think I was 30 years younger. No Buick LeSabre for this old guy. You are correct about the manual, and I will look before I come on here and ask another question that I should have already looked up. Thanks. Doug

I didn't get that far since I couldn't find the distributor cap to turn.
