I've got a set of Proform valve covers on my dry sump '13 GS and I'm having issues blowing the oil fill off on track days. Only happened once, but that's enough. Holding it in with duct tape ever since.
Anyone else have issues with these? The oil fill cap is a rubber type press in and there's no flare. You can pull it out with two fingers with no resistance. Ideas?
I've wanted to get a nice set of valve covers for my dry sump GS, but all the covers I see for the LS3 have the oil fill cap like you're having a problem with now...I was mostly concerned with aesthetics, but also didn't want any problems with the cap, like someone using it for oil fill instead of putting oil in the right place...now you've experienced a problem I hadn't thought of (I track my car,too)...it seems that the dry sump cars basically need two drivers side valve covers...before I got a pair,I was thinking about getting in touch with a supplier to see about getting a set without that fill cap...have you talked with the the supplier of your covers about maybe trading your cover-with-a-cap for one without a cap?

Yeah I half heartily tried to contact Proform and got some customer service person in a 3rd world country that was clueless. I'll have to try a little harder I guess as the design of the oil cap is flawed. You could tap it with your baby finger and it will flop right out. The only covers I've found that state dry sump are the Katechs.

Emailed Tech Support at Proform over the weekend and received a call from a tech at 9AM this morning. He looked at the covers and agreed the cap needed to be redesigned and initiated that process this morning. Probably a month or two and I'll have a proper fitting oil fill cap and I can get rid of the duct tape!!

Can you elaborate on what they changed? It's been a while but I'm pretty sure I didn't even recieve a cap when I bought mine and went throug a couple different SBC push on ones that leaked and ended up getting a Moroso screw on. I really don't know why they didn't just design them to take the OEM cap.

A picture is worth a thousand words, added the lip.
I got my new Proform covers last week and called Proform. Booth was on vacation but now that he is back they said to call and he could have one out to me asap. They made sure to mention that they made this all with GM's design, so it was not "Proform" that designed the cap like this. Either way, it sounds like they acknowledge the issue and have the fix.
