valve spring height measurement question
I just had my heads redone, and got them back unassembled.
I bought Brian Tooley Racing .660 lift platinum dual spring kit with Ti retainers.
BTR says an LS7 (08 Z06) should require .045 of shims because the LS7 seat is cut with a 12 degree angle.
Measuring with my spring mic, I'm getting pretty consistent .030 to .035 shim required.
I figured I'd need more than the .045( suggested for a drop in replacement) after my valves were re-seated, not less.
How much more shim would you expect to need after a typical seat cleanup after doing guides?
Of course now I'm concerned that the seats aren't cut correctly - probably over thinking it.
