Can anyone let me know the wheel/tire specs for a drag package (skinnies & dr's) for a 2013 Grand Sport?
Thanks!
I will be very interested in replies to this thread. I have been trying to find a definitive answer for some time without success. The information has been all over the place.
I have a 2012 A6 GS nearing completion (ECS w/ meth, 2600 stall, 3.42 Z06 rear, 700+ RWHP) and I am still trying to find a drag pack wheel/tire combo that will not set off the AH/TC demons due to front/rear tire diameter greater than tolerated by the computer. I would like to go with a 17" rear rim to avoid going to drag spindles. Vengance Racing sells a GS/Z06 Weld Package with a 185/50/18 M&H front (25.2 tall) and a 325/45/17 M&H rear (28.5) tall, but that combo has a 13% diameter difference. I have been trying without success to find out the maximum % the computer will allow; I received some info 4-5% is it. I am led to believe a 28" tall rear tire will set off the AH/TC nannies and render the GS useless (and possibly dangerous). However, Vengance says this combo will work and referred me to a customer who has the setup and it does work.
If you check out a company named "Race Star" (I do not have their website info with me while traveling) for rims you should find good fronts already available. They introduced 18 x 5 rims for the front of the GS/ZO6 late last year (which did not even make their catalog) and will be introducing many more rims for Corvettes in the near future (if they are not already made). I do not have all the info on the rears that I use with me as I am traveling but can get the details when I get back home. If I remember correctly they are BFG 275/18's on the front GS rims or a set of MT 265/40-18's mounted on aftermarket 10 spoke ZO6 rims. The BFG's are slightly shorter compared to the MT's but both had OK launch, but remember I also have an almost stock GS with no converter...which I hope to remedy shortly...LOL

I can only assume you'll only be using those at the track and not on the street, which is the dangerous part and not related to the AH/TC nannies either. My limited experience (only drove to the track twice with race tires on) is that the nannies don't kick in for about 20 miles and can be turned off by the TC switch.
If you want to know the safe limits in the GM program, not necessarily the absolute limits, do this calculation.
Find the circumference of your new OEM tires and the circumference when the tread depth is gone. aka bald. Compare new fronts to bald rears and bald fronts to new rears. Those ratios are assured to be safe, even if the bald tires aren't.

Myself, and I am sure other run that same setup or very close with no issues. I have the same rears, and 225/45/18 on the front. It was a tossup between 45 and 50 and I think either would be fine.
The M&H really measure closer to 27 when on the car. 27.2 on mine if I remember right.

I run Racestar DarkStars at the track and on the street. I don't own a GS but do have a widebooty on the car. My race setup is 17x4.5's with M&H 185/55/17 fronts and 17X9.5's and M/T 275/40/17's on the rear. I have no problems with A/H or T/C demons and I drive this combo to and from the track which is a 170 mile round trip. What's nice about these wheels is that you don't have to run spacers whether you are running stock coupe brakes or the Z06 brakes. I'm on the plus side of 700hp and this combination has worked great for me.
You can PM me for my contact at RaceStar because the people there go over and above to help you with choosing the right wheels.
