Default MGW flat stick

So I haven't seen anyone in the C6 forum post about a flat stick MGW. I looked at them, was a little wishy-washy since for the most part everyone says great things about the original. Maybe I should be going with it? Well I said screw it, you can always change it later right? So I ordered the red flat stick to go with my victory red 08 Z51 coupe. Then got to thinking, so I called them up and was told that the reds wouldn't match and what I should get is the grey. I went with what they said and I am not disappointed. Installed done today and finished about 2 hours after the UPS guy left. I think it looks great but may not be for everyone. There aren't any videos on their site specifically for the flat stick install but using the videos for the original it is pretty straightforward and installs the same way. I've never used the original so was just going off reviews from here for my decision to bite the bullet but I must say Wow! What a difference over stock. Shifts are much more confident and whoever said it was like shifting a nicely oiled bolt action rifle was right on the money! All of that rambling to say, I appreciate you guys and have learned a lot from the ranger method to now picking a shifter with confidence. If anyone was considering the flat stick I say go for it. I can upload a finished picture if anyone would like to see what it looks like installed.

Pictures or a link would be helpful. I haven't even heard of it until your post and I have the MGW short shift kit.

I have the red flat stick...very happy with it...and the lower box and the shifter is quality. The original was one of if not the very best shifter on the market IMO and this one is no exception

Picture of before I put the center console back together and after with everything together. Little late here, I can get a better picture tomorrow in the sunshine when I pull her out for bath time!

I'm a big fan for sure. I changed the lower box too. When you bolt the shifter to the new box I noticed there is a lip that keeps the rubber gasket from oozing out like is shown in the video. It seems they are continually improving an already great design.

I also like the flat stick and the gray. I was on the fence because I wasn't sure how the boot would fit. Yours looks great.

The boot had me worried too but it comes with a little plastic piece that fits over it. No instructions with it. The little ring that snaps into the stock shifter **** is just held onto the boot by an o-ring In a groove. Pulls right off. There was a ziptie with the new one and goes on in much the same manner. I would definitely recommend installing it before you put the center console back on. Had to remove mine again for that!

Thanks for the picts Danno.

This is pretty interesting since I haven't been back to MGW's site since I bought my kit from them including the lower box. Their stuff is really superb.

I'll have to grab the OEM **** to check but I don't feel like it's any bigger. Then again, I'm 6'2" with big hands and wear size 13 shoes so maybe it's just me! Haha. I did measure the **** and it's close to 1 7/8". If that tells you anything. I took a couple of side photos but the **** does look much larger in the picture than it feels. I think it has more to do with the boot being lower and not pulled all the way up to meet it like the stock one.

Also, I went out today and gave the new shifter hell through some twisties. With the stock one I missed third a few times. With the new MGW I missed third twice and both times I caught myself trying to dogleg the shift. When I paid attention and only pushed straight up like you should it was some of the best third gear shifts I've made over 6k on the tach. Just a thought.
