Default Need Help with Trans Problem

i have a 2006 A6 and i was coming home from the track and got a CEL and the car was Stuck in 2nd gear code was P0756 i took it to the transmission shop they hooked up their scanner and told me the solenoid was stuck "off" and to fix it i would have to have the valve body replaced which i purchased from GM after leaving the car there for 3 days i get a call that the car is doing it still it only gets stuck once the trans gets to operating temperature of 170* the trans shop is baffled and so am i they want to tear it apart and see if any hard parts are broken inside the trans i don't want to keep playing this guessing game i just want my car fixed has anyone else experienced this problem or know anything else i can check?? any info is highly appreciated.
i did try googling it but didn't find anything on a C6 just C5 and Truck problems

notes:
the new valve body was re-programmed with a tech II
car has 110K miles

ttt I surely can't help you. knowing that they're not going to get the biz, I'd go on bended knee and ask these guys, the experts, what they think.

2nd gear is limp mode. Limo mode is when it sees something is wrong. Could be numerous things. If all solenoid check out to be working then it's probably internal.

A couple questions.
Did you see the pan off? Was there debris in it? Did it smell burnt? Was the fluid even checked? Do you know without a doubt that they installed the solenoid pack? There have been a few trans shops that want to rebuild every trans they get. I have fixed numerous trans problems with solenoids and speed sensors. I am NOT a trans shop.
Here's the flow chart from gm.

P0756
DTC P0756
DTC Descriptor This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC P0756 Shift Solenoid (SS) 2 Valve Performance - Stuck Off

Diagnostic Fault Information

Important: Always perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure. See: Testing and Inspection

Circuit/System Description
The shift solenoid (SS) valve 2 is part of the lower control valve body. The SS valve 2 is a normally closed (NC) solenoid valve and controls fluid to the clutch select valve 3- and related clutches. During this diagnostic test, intrusive actions are taken by the transmission control module (TCM) to test the SS Valve 2 to see if the valve is stuck OFF. When in first gear engine braking, if first gear ratio is not achieved in a predetermined period of time, the TCM commands second gear and if second gear ratio is attained this indicates a stuck OFF SS Valve 2 and the DTC will set.

Conditions for Running the DTC
First gear locked is commanded.
Attained gear slip is equal to or greater than 75 RPM for 2 seconds.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The TCM detects second gear ratio is achieved.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
DTC P0756 is a Type A DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTC P0756 is a Type A DTC.

Diagnostic Aids
When attempting to set transmission performance DTCs, it may be helpful to observe the Freeze Frame and Failure Records to assist in duplicating the failure conditions. Ensure the transmission fluid level is correct and there are no leaks.

Circuit/System Verification
Perform the transmission fluid checking procedure. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking Procedure. See: Maintenance\Fluids\Fluid - A/T\Service and Repair\Procedures
Operate the vehicle in drive with the calculated throttle position greater than 15% to obtain 56 km/h (35 mph) 2 times. If the DTC resets, go to Circuit/System Testing.
Circuit/System Testing
Perform the line pressure check procedure. Refer to Line Pressure Check Procedure. If the pressure is out of specification correct that concern first.
Perform the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly cleaning procedure and retest the DTC as outlined in the Circuit/System Verification steps. Refer to Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Cleaning. If the DTC resets, continue on with testing. See: Transmission and Drivetrain\Automatic Transmission/Transaxle\Testing and Inspection\Component Tests and General Diagnostics\Control Solenoid Valve & TCM Assembly Cleaning
Perform the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly inspection procedure. Refer to Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection. See: Transmission and Drivetrain\Automatic Transmission/Transaxle\Testing and Inspection\Component Tests and General Diagnostics\Control Solenoid Valve & TCM Assembly Inspection If a concern is found, repair or replace the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly.
Perform the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly solenoid performance test procedure. Refer to Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Solenoid Performance Test. See: Transmission and Drivetrain\Automatic Transmission/Transaxle\Testing and Inspection\Component Tests and General Diagnostics\Control Solenoid Valve & TCM Assembly Solenoid Performance Test If the solenoid is found to be leaking or stuck OFF, replace the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly.
Repair Instructions

Important: Always perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure. See: Verification Tests

Replace the control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, or programming. See: Testing and Inspection\Programming and Relearning
