Default Who's using meth

I'm wondering who's using meth on a na ls3? I read spins sticky on meth for na engines and it made a lot of sense to me. It looks like there is an easy 15-20 rwhp to be had with the cooler IAT's, increased octane and timing.
If you have done this, please share your results. What engine, who's kit, pure meth or 50/50 and power gains would be appreciated.

DSteck's flex fuel kit would be an easier way to go for the same gains. Flex fuel sensor allows the car to run any combination of E85 and regular gas. The car will automatically adjust the tune based on ethanol content.

If 85 is your neck of the words.

It's all over Long Island, but in CT its sparse.

You need to raise your compression to really take advantage of it.

I researched it pretty thoroughly and spoke with several tuners. The general consensus was it's not worth it on a basic NA build. I don't know how crazy you plan on going with your build but even a basic H/C engine won't benefit much from meth.

I'm aware of meth's ability to help "retain" horsepower but I still couldn't find many people running meth NA and even less tuners who recommend it. Maybe your research will prove otherwise.

Some interesting ideas, so far it sounds like no one but spinmonstor has done this. I'm glad I didn't buy the kit yet. I am still hoping to hear from someone else has been there and done it.

Thanks 5knives, unless I get some other replies with proven results, the meth will be on hold until the heads come off to bump the CR.

More info for you. My CR is also bumped and I was still talked out of meth. But keep in mind my engine was also built with 93 in mind. Meth was an afterthought. So if you take meth into consideration before raising the CR, you may be able to set up your build to where meth will be worth it. Your tuner can help you make the call.

I was running 80/20% methanol on my ls3 with a medium cam and ported and milled stock heads. It was good for about 10rwhp and 15rwtq through the whole powerband as soon as it came on. My tuner wanted to use methanol because we only get 91 octane here and the methanol would give the car a safety cushion. Methanol for an n/a car is for octane. A side benefit is the car will run well whether its 50 or 100* outside. My car still passes the sniffer, so a more aggressive setup would make it more worthwhile. I ended up removing my kit and running octane booster instead because my car is set up for the road course and i got tired of refilling it every session. I know of 2 Socal cars on this forum that run it on more aggressive setups, maybe they'll check in.

Default Meth injection

N/A LS3 using 100% meth injection. Meth kicks in at 4000 rpm. Don't know HP improvement for meth only but meth, ported stock intake and NW 102 added 37 RWHP. No gains in increasing timing. Car is tuned for 93 pump gas. Car spends time on the strip 5900 to 7000 rpm range. Meth adds safety very little KR

Flex fuel will offer the same gains without the meth pump/tank, and adding meth when you run low.

E85 is pretty rare in NJ. As far as I know there are only 3 public stations selling it.

If your not running very high compression you wont see any gain, and race fuel will do the same, its like putting race fuel in a 1960 ford falcon, it wont go any faster but probably slower. nitro methane wont make it a funny car.

Why not hit the car w/ some nitrous? If you want to spray it with something, for the price of meth, you're pretty close to a quality n2o system. You can get a lot more than 40rwhp out of it too.

FWIW we won't recommend 100% meth on any system due to safety reasons in the case of a rear impact. Could make an accident turn bad very quickly if the 100% meth lights up.
