I am looking for opinions and people with experience with the LS2. Mine is running fine, but I always do my research long in advance of "that day".
My question is can anyone recommend a good builder, it can be a crate motor as long as it has forged internals and is set up to handle a Procharger. I am looking for what I have now, maybe a little more, 650-700 rwhp running on pump gas.
I am really trying to figure out if I'm better off having my friend build an LS2 at his shop, or is there some guru out there that has it all sorted out.
I found one prebuilt longblock from turnkey engine supply. Only problem is I have never heard of them.
Anyway, I'm just looking for advice on where to find a bulletproof LS2, and which way I should go.
Long blocks come with heads. Only the intake would be the issue.
Hey duh....i had shortblock in my head when i responded lol. Are ls3's that much better for boost Other than displacement? Being they would both be forged. ..?
I am going to stay with the LS2. It has exceeded all expectation's that I had. Mine is still making 640rwhp on pump 93 no meth and over 50,000 hard miles.
I am new to the LS series motors (read dinosaur) my last car had a 509 with an 8-71 Littlefield. I am (was) a die hard BB Chevy guy my whole life. I was just curious if you "LS" guys have a favorite engine builder, or crate motor shop that has a good reputation for building solid LS2 motors.
I'm not looking to ring out every last HP out of it, want reliable pump gas driver in the 650-700 rwhp range.
A bunch of good engine builders out there. I went with LME for a build LS 2 short block and was very pleased with the service and product. It's not a bad idea to stay local if you can find someone good nearby. It wasn't an option for me.
If you're good with mid 600's at the wheel, I'd find a good running take out and go from there. There's absolutely no guarantee that a "built" LS2 will be better than what you have now. A crap tune, not enough fuel, and poor quality fuel can tear up the finest built LS2. A really good tune and fuel can help a stock LS2 live a very long time at those power levels.
