Steering Wheel Swaps
Will a 2009 steering wheel go on a 2006 car?
If yes, can the shift paddles be moved over to the new wheel without a lot of bother?
Can the air bag nd horn assembly (and cover) be moved with no issues
Finally
Can the spoke covers be moved? (The wheel I am considering has radio buttons on the right side, I don't need them as I have an after market radio/Nav system. (Besides, my 2006 did not come with them!)
Thanks
Joe
As for the 2006 wheel, once you get it down to this level, you can pretty much rebuild it back up with your 2006 parts.

I'm assuming the 2009 wheel you've found is for a manual transmission car? I don't know about moving the paddles -- I would *guess* that they could be swapped from the old wheel along with the old wheel's rear cover, but I've never done it myself. I don't how the paddle assemblies are attached to the wheel frame -- best case would be if they are bolted on, but it *could* be that they are welded or riveted -- that would be a lot more work to swap over.
You'd also have to swap the 2006 wheel's internal wiring over to the 2009 wheel, along with the 2006 wheel's paddles. (the 2009 wheel wiring has a different clockspring connector on it than your 2006, if I am not mistaken. So you can't just leave the 2009 internal wiring in place and have a plug-in swap, even if the 2009 wheel already had paddles)

I installed a 'nicer/lower mileage' Z06 into my 2007 A6.
My 120,000 mile 2007 steering wheel looked like a racoon ate the top of it. Virginia sun and the original owner must of worn his Superbowl rings.
