Hello everyone I'm new to this thread.I have a quick question I've had my Corvette dyno tuned it 382 rwhp if I put a cam how much horsepower would I gain and how much does something like that cost if you could help me out I would appreciate it thanks.

You're question is very vague but I'll do my best to help answer it since I just installed a cam last week. The gains would greatly depend on the cam specs you go with and I'd suggest doing some research and seeing what fits your needs. The cost also depends on what supporting mods you go with. I went with a Comp Cams 230/234 cam (Spinmonster Specs), valve springs, pushrods, a new ATI harmonic balancer, a C5R timing chain, all new gaskets and seats, spark plugs and wires, etc. That package comes out to approximately $2500 installed and tuned. I also opted to add some Kooks 1 7/8 headers and catted x-pipe (around $1700 new + $300 installation). I ended up with 467whp all said and done.

There's way too many variables to give you a solid answer..

What do you use the car for? What do you want out of it? Do you just want a big HP number at all costs.. something a little stronger all over.. something else?

Big cam, something in the middle, small, blower cam if you're planning on adding a supercharger later...? Sticking with stock heads?

I went CAI, intake manifold, big cam, headers, high flow cats and a tune. I have the NPP exhaust, so the car sounds mild until you switch the exhaust open. I spent about 8k plus tax to get 510+ whp. Car is a semi daily driver, but it has a significant rock, especially with the A/C on. Also the car will sometimes buck between 1500 and 2k rpm because of cam surge. Overall the thing is a beast and I love it for driving on the track or road coarse, which is what I wanted.

The install was done by a local shop, so with a DIY you could probably do the same in the 5k range. Plus a dyno tune.

I forgot that a pulley and colder thermostat where also installed.

Cam surge/bucking is very possibly a tuning issue and not something you should have to live with with the right tuner.

How big is the cam?
