So I just spent some serious dollars on a new touch screen NAV unit, a Kenwood DNX892. I got my setup from Dennis @ Double D mods. I am using the pre-amp out connections on the back of the unit with the supplied ground loop isolators.
Everything is working just fine...but....the sound is lack luster to say the least. I really don't have any bass, the configs on the head unit don't really have accurate speaker choices so I'm trying my best to tune, etc.
My fear is the overall answer I will get here is I will need to spend more money..new speakers and possible new amp (like a 5 channel, etc.) to get the sounds I'm looking for and to capitalize on the head unit that I have.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out, look forward to the responces /suggestions

The best thing to do is move this question to the audio section. Very knowledgable over there .
Not trying to be a smart a$$ but I think you should talk to Dennis. We have no idea what you previously communicated to him about what you wanted from the new setup. Maybe there was miscommunication? We don't know. No one here has ever said they were given bad info or system recommendations by Dennis. So I think he is the one to talk to. Just my opinion of course.
Dennis was great and I am very pleased, I'm just now seeing the deficiencies of the stock setup, wondering what other have done. I could easily ask Dennis but I'd like the opinions of other with no sales pitch behind it if that make sense.
I missed placing this in the audio section so I will move it as well
This is kinda the opposite scenario of yours, but it might help...
I bought my Z06 in January and it came with the stock head unit, but upgraded speakers, an amplifier and subwoofer. The sound is actually really nice! I think new speakers will make a big difference for you...
I'm in the same boat. I just found a really nice head unit I like (Apple CarPlay is really damn cool). I'm just afraid I'm about to walk down another road that's going to cost thousands of dollars.
no bass???? if you kept the stock speakers you should still have bass. Most seem to complain about not having High's. Is everything hooked up correctly? Maybe you have a bad head unit, just a thought. Good Luck.
Actually I moved this thread over to the audio section and I got some good direction.
Now everything sounds wayyy better ! I had to change a few things but wasn't bad search for this same thread title in the audio section and you will see it.
