Default Oil Pressure

What is 'normal' oil pressure in the LS2 engine?

With temps in the mid to high 90's, my hot running 1200 rpm +-, run a tad short of 40 psi. Hot idle it drops to 35. As I go through the gears, it goes up to 45-50 psi at 2500 rpm and up.

Not using oil, engine temp runs around 195 -200 with A/C on.

Car has 31000 miles...never raced or hot-rodded. Excursions above 5000 rpm are extremely rare...like maybe 4 times???!!

I only mention that to try and lay out some parameters for the oil pressure. Oh yes, run Castrol full synthetic, 5w-30.

I am completely in the dark about Chevrolet engines...I have built and raced Fords all my life. My 401 Jeep engined Wagoneer runs 60 psi hot pulling an 8000 pound trailer, so i know different engines have different pressures.

So I ask teh experts here!

Thanks..

Joe

Oil pressure is fine. This is a case of too much is a bad thing. More oil pressure than needed is just a waste of horsepower. One of the reasons the LS7 actually picks up hp when converted to wet sump.
