When driving in sport mode, recently on a few occasions, the car returns to automatic mode without me shifting back into "D" from "S." When I then shift back to Sport mode, it has not functioned properly and operates as if was in "D" even though I'm in "S." After a few minutes or stopping the car, it will re-engage. I'm taking it to the dealership next week. It's a 2007 with about 39,000 miles on it and I have had no real problems with the car since owning the last couple of years. Has anyone else experienced this and do you know what causes it and what the repair cost or description is? I'm a gal and don't want to be taken advantage of when at the dealership.
i dont have a good answer for you. i dont use manual shifting much and i know that i really have to read up on it to understand when certain things happen (disengage, rev limiting, stuff).
on the otherhand..... you sound like you use the sports mode and manually shifting enough to know how it functions.
if you dont do sports/manual shifting much and really not enough to know how it works (and oddities)... do not take it back to a dealership until you do.
so... lets assume you are really quite knowlegeable about manual shifting. unless you feel it pretty necessary to use manual shifting, i would not take it to a dealership.
its a 2007 , its 8 years old. things go wrong. there are going to be much more important functions that will fail, so unless you have the extra cash and really need the manual shifting, put off the dealership run.
