Default 08 corvette no key help

I just purchased a very nice 2008 C6 but it was sold to me with no key
I called my local dealer who told me they needed the car i said i would have it shipped direct to them they said they needed to program the car themselves
All good so far
They asked me if the car ran. I said i didnt know.as i didnt.have a key.
Then out of the blue they said they could not help it thre cars running status was unknown?
I know i can buy a blank but is there a way i can program it myself, i have a tech2 sat in the box at home i have never used will that help me?
I have the car delivered next week, i really hope i can get some pointers on what i can do
I got the car running condition unknown which really does not worry me, i am 98% positive the car will run once i can get a key
I have the title and proof of ownership
Thank you for reading my post for help

First, I don't understand when you say that you have to program the key. Only the FOB needs programing, the key gets cut. They can cut a key by using your VIN to get the code. You don't need a key to start the car, you need the FOB.

Your explanation of the issue is very confusing.

timid38 is correct , you can get a key cut from a dealership , provided you have correct identification and proof of ownership. key in keyhole above rear tag will open hatch, pull on left inside will open door. you can purchase fob(s), car & fob(s) can be programmed , there are instructions here on CF for that.

so, here is a picture. you said dont have a key, that is the red circle. the fob is the yellow circle.

are you missing red or yellow or both????????????????????????????

(i suspect both, you have a car with NO fob or key, you bought , that is being delivered to you , without knowing if it even runs)

You said you actually have a TechII sitting at home in a box? wow, cool (scratches head and ponders)

There is a way to get in with no key and no fob, and ordering a fob and programming the car to it.

You do know you don't need the key to start the car, yes? It's a keyless ignition.. There's a fob you leave in your pocket and the car will start if it's inside the car.

The key only opens the trunk so you can get in IF the battery dies.

Any dealership can cut you a key based on your VIN # (you have to show them your registration) for around $10. Yes, $10.

Thanks chevydave
Thre car will arrive to me with doors that will open have a flat battery and have no fob
I have purchased a vette like this before, i repaired the bcm on it and are still enjoying it to this day
I also wanted to up the speed from 2mph when i had a keylock issue on one of my othrr vettes
I understand what your implying but assure you i am the legal owner
Until this vette all my others have been C5s except the one in my profile pic which was an 06 and used a key so i was until now ingnorant to it having a system the same as my old mercedes
Thanks for your time
Regards
Martyn (on his last day of vacation)😀

The 06 is a C6 and does not use a key. Also if the one you are waiting on has a dead battery the doors will not open. You better hope at least the windows are down so you can reach in and open the hood.

True. No way to get inside it without a key or good fob+working battery

Luckily.. like I mentioned already, keys are cheap. They are not ones with any kind of chip in them.. they are literally just pieces of metal and GM can cut them based on the VIN, at the dealership, in a matter of minutes. I paid < $10 for mine. I thought they had messed up!

The key is built into the fob. Bring the vin number and proof of ownership to the dealer with you and they will cut the key.

heres everything you need to know about programming the fob....

I just went through this last week and its spot on... just make sure you have the fob far out of the way of the car when it tells you to move fob away from

Well my car arrives tomorrow, I have the key cut and blank FOB in hand so my worry right now is the car is on the top front of an 18 wheeler car transport truck, how can I get over the steering lock assuming it has one? and I may need to pull it from the rear to get it off the trailer assuming I can overcome the steering lock (if it has one) where would you recommend pulling it from?

Slightly worried right now
