Upgrading monster triple 1000hp to 1500hp and driveshaft to aluminum Hinson 1000hp and couplers. I had a knocking noise from 1500- up RPM coming from bellhousing not when in neutral. Is my slave supposed to be in two pieces like this? There wasn't a shim in here either. Isn't there supposed to be a spring in here? How does clutch look?
No the part number is a c6Z slave. I just talked to the shop that put it in and they said you have to cut it to fit the clutch. Anyone ever heard of this?
Are you using Monster's metal billet bearing support by chance?
To install it you have to take a retainer off of the slave to get it apart. I put one on mine and found it had came back apart.. Was thinking the same might have happened to you
I don't have the support but it set came apart. Would this make a bunch of noise from bell housing when driving? Don't know where the boot is def not on it or in bell housing.
That noise you here is the bearing bouncing around the input shaft and sliding forward and backwards between the clutch fingers and the slave base. You more then likely need a new slave.
Could this cause the clutch to slip real bad on dyno? This is why I was going to upgrade triple 1000 to the 1500 ceramic. While im in here im upgrading the driveshaft and couplers as well. Other than the terrible noise the car drove fine and shifted fine.
Here's what a brand new C6 slave looks like taken apart. Yours looks like a C5 slave.
I'd contact them first to see if there's a "why" on why it was used. Maybe that particular clutch needs it for some reason.
It has a gm c6 part number. Unless someone stamped on a c6 part number on base and stuck a C5 top on It...lol. It is missing the green boot and spring. The shop that put It in said they cut it and it's normal to do this. Have y'all heard of this? For the horsepower level question it's 1020rwhp @ 16. 1XXXX@ 25
wow, I'm at 630wheel N/A I just couldn't imagine what 1000+ feels like if/when it hooks......just wow
A thought on the clutch slipping,
when you release the pedal, the clutch is fully engaged, so fluid, master & slave wouldn't create a slip. The clutch should be clamped to the flywheel and holding on for dear life. The only 2 things I can think off are;
1: As you assume, the clutch isn't holding that tremendous power
2: when you release the pedal, the slave isn't disengaging right.
BTW, I personally never heard of someone taking the green boot off. it's certainly not standard procedure as far as I'm concerned. I've done a handful of them and never seen that taking old ones out, and never did that on the way in.
Yeah, can't really see why you would cut one down? I know the triple I'm using uses a ZR1 slave which is shorter. Maybe cutting the "regular" slave down was the solution before the ZR1 one was available? Total guess.
I'm assuming that particular clutch needed some kind of custom sized slave? Who knows. I'd give Monster a call and see what they say on whether it's normal or not first.

I've never heard of It either. I guess that why im doing It in my garage this time. No one to blame but myself for if it isn't right this go around. You know how many bolts are in the bellhousing by chance? The last time I did a clutch swap on this car was in 2012 and just remember the bellhousing kicking my teeth in. I thinks its just one up top from what I remember. Had some extra money aside and let someone do the monster install this last time.
