Hey all been searching for an answer for the power limit of a stock torque tube on a 07 base m6 and haven't really found anything tangible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. A little background on my vette:
I'm building a 402 and looking for about 530rwhp. Just wondering if I could leave the stock one in there or if I could upgrade to a z06 shaft if that even is an upgrade.
Thanks in advance.
The car is not and will not be drag raced. It is driven almost daily and I autocross often but that's it as far as abuse to the car.
My friend Peter just snapped his at the transmission. Stock LS3, GM Hotcam and that's it. He has over 1000 passes at the track and hotlaps it like a diesel.
It's the law of averages and it you do something enough it will brake. I think you'd be more than fine on the street. I wouldn't worry about it. Replacing something you may never break seems like a lot of work for maybe.
Tons of people running over that with blowers and running the stock drive shaft.
I'd make sure your couplers/bearings are in good shape if you do have it out. I can get you the non-GM part numbers on the bearings if you do decide to replace them.
