3 or 4 times since I bought the car in 06 I've encountered reduced power mode. This time I got lucky and had the scanner with. Also had a P0135 but I wouldn't think an O2 would cause reduced power.
Why would I get a fault for this sensor? That would be for flex fuel.

Did not know that Flex Fuel was an option on the C6!
Sorry didnt see that.
That's a really odd code to have. I can't get and info through GM service manuals. All I can find is a TSB with a code list and it's there. But no circuit description and diagnostic charts whatsoever.
On the other hand, the P0135 is for the heater circuit for the 02 and i'd repair that at the very least as you know it is a problem and see what happens. if that sensor can't warm up, it won't get into closed loop as quickly as it should.
DTC P0135: HO2S Heater Performance Bank 1 Sensor 1
You sure you got the number right?
A p2176 for instance is for the reduced power mode i'm guessing but 0176-2176 maybe???
1. Check for loose Engine Control Module (ECM) and throttle body terminals.
2. With the throttle body disconnected, run the throttle by hand. Confirm it is smooth, spring loaded in both directions slightly open.
3. Check the Yellow wire in terminal 63 in the Black ECM connector, and the Brown wire in terminal 60 for opens, grounds, shorts to voltage and shorts to each other.
4. Reconnect the throttle body, leaving the ECM disconnected.
5. Ground one of the wires at the ECM connector.
6. Briefly apply power to the other wire. The throttle plate should move.
7. Reverse the polarity and briefly apply power and ground. The throttle plate should move the other direction.
8. If the harness is ok, but the throttle plate does not move when jumpered, the throttle body is defective.
I drove about 20 miles back home after resetting with no codes.
After the last time I ran into reduced power about 2 years ago I started keeping a scanner in the car just in case. If it has been the same code all these times it couldn't be the ECM, throttle body, or gas pedal since they were all replaced at some point.
Problem is it may be a couple years until it happens again.
