Default Base c6 upgrades

I've got a 2008 base c6 with the manual. Correct me if im wrong on these numbers but i believe it does 0-60 4.1 sec and pulls a 0.95 on the skidpad? My question is what must i do to get 0-60 down to 3.8 and lateral g's above 1 (hopefully 1.05)?

Beef up stab bar links, ditch the runflats and get pilot sport cups or pirelli corsa's, headers and tune and you'd be real close

thank you for the response but i have a few questions. why the links and not the bar itself? this is going to be a daily driver and sport cups dont last long and are really expensive as well as non-runflats, what if i get a flat? can you recommend a good tire that lasts a long time and are not super expensive, but still better than the stock tires? ill do the headers and tune. without the cup tires what else am i going to have to do to reach my goals?

So sorry, I did mean the bar itself. I don't run runflats, can't stand them. As far as flats, well 9/10 it's a slow leak and can be repaired like any other car you've owned. Runflats need to be repaired and if you run them too long flat they are garbage anyways. If you wanted 1.05g but want a tire to last forever, you need to decide what's more important. That being said, a michelin Supersport may give you the closest to your goal. I'd say they'd have you over the 1.00g and still last pretty long. Don't cheap out on tires. They are more important to the car than almost any other upgrade. Also, if you want a 3.8 0-60 time, that's going to require to own a tire that will grip and allow you to do that. That's why I initially stated the cups. You can't always have want you want without sacrificing. And in your case, your goals, require a really great tire.

are you talking about this:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ling%20Package

they will get me to 1.05g? and to be clear is the swaybar getting me any g's or is it just to control body roll? the super sports, will they all0w me to get to 60 in 3.8sec with the headers and tune or will i need more. and out of curiosity, is it impossible to get 3.8 sec on the stock tires or will i just need a lot of power?

From what I understand the car stock puts down .97g in stock trim. Getting rid of the runflats and getting a tire like the super sports would probably yield 1.00g maybe 1.01g. I'd say a PS cup tire would yield 1.02-1.03g and the stiff sway bars might get you the rest.
You'd likely never achieve 3.8 0-60 with those Goodyear runflats. It would take some serious skill and I don't know you so maybe you could. But you can launch much more aggressively with a grippier sticky tire and That would help you better achieve that goal. A little more power like headers, intake tune will make sure it capable and then you got to do the rest.

I've achieved a 0-60 in 2.48 seconds but let's not forget that's at a well prepped track and hoosier drag radials on.

What g would you say on super sport runflats with the stiff sway bar?
So 3.8 on super sport runflats with headers, intake, tune, and a little practice?

It's clearly a guessing game but if you absolutely want a run flat that's the one to get. I'd say maybe 1.01ish maybe a .01 more since those Goodyear are horrible. You'd also benefit from a wider tire as that would increase grip. It's hard to even achieve the 4.1 stock number but I Don't think with better rubber and a little more power that 3 tenths of a second is a huge stretch. It's a realistic goal. Launching will be key and that will be how good you are on clutch release and throttle timing.

The 3.8 is possible in the right conditions of air and surface, plus a really good driver with just what you currently have. However, I highly suspect you're not that driver, since you had to ask the question in the first place.

Now because you have somewhat of a fear of having a flat and also of spending money, I suggest you should just forget the 1.05 G for now and spend a lot of time practicing your launch technique. Once you master the straight ahead driving, then make some mods and revisit the skidpad. You'll learn more in the process of tearing up the current tires, than you will with good ones that'd hide your shortcomings.

i just looked it up and i can get the z51 sway bars(same bar up front as the z06 and only a tad bit smaller in the rear) and the z06 shocks for fairly cheep. What g's will they get me on the stock tires? And any other upgrades i can do? Could i take this a step further, what suspention parts could i get that are better the the z06's? I've heard Pfadt parts but what do you think?

The sway bar and shock upgrade is a good idea but I would first start with the best and widest tire you can fit under the fenders. The Re11 is a great dual purpose tire. Stop worrying about flat tires if you want performance. You have tpms to tell you if a tire is getting low. Don't forget to setup your alignment for performance.

Good point for the alignment. Very important.

OP you seem so eager to gain g's yet you keep trying to do so with your oem tires. we are trying to put a nail in with a screw driver. What you need is a hammer.

Tires will be the single most effective upgrade to your current set-up. I don't know how or why you come up with a wanted "g" but you can't get there without a great tire. I would suggest before all things. Get a great tire and try that first before anything else. Every other upgrade is pointless if the car can't grip the road.

Also, it's hard and next to impossible to guess what part will give you what g gain. but it's a fact that tires, for you're money will bring you the most over those RF Goodyears. 0-60 times will drop, and lateral g's will rise with a good set of tires. no other mod will affect both of your needs as well as tires will. power will only give you acceleration, suspension will typically only help cornering but tires can do both.

ok im looking into some tires. But im also looking into the z06 sway bars and shocks, i can get those before the tires because they are cheaper. I know that you sad you cant know how much a part will help you but will the z06 sway bars and shocks get me 1g or close to it just based of of your experience?

Again, the tires are required to get those g's transferred to the ground. I would say without tires, most likely not. The tires are what will make your mix come together.

Food for thought
2008 Z06 (Goodyear Eagle F1) 0.97g
2011 Z06 (Michelin Pilot Sports P2) 1.08g
2012 Z06 (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup) 1.13g

Out of curiosity on my behalf, can I ask you why g's are so important. Are you ever going to test this theory to prove outcome? Are you competing in something?

I hope to eventually go to some tracks like road Atlanta one day and there is a couple here in Alabama. Well high g's is how you measure basic cornering, or am i wrong(i know there is more to it but could you tell me what you know that i may not)? I will add power later, but i want to get the cornering down first

I don't know something you don't but I did have a little taste of a circuit track (i'm mainly a 1/4 mile guy) and I'm not sure of your skill level, but I can tell you that it would laps upon laps, and sessions upon sessions, before I think I'd even be close to extracting my cars full potential. Driver skill is more important than anything else. You have a fantastic platform to start with.
If I could be bold and tell you what to do, I say get your car out there as is, and then start to figure out what you're missing, or what you think your missing first.

Big brakes maybe, I'd even think a track tire/rim combo only for the track like hoosier A7's or something....but more important, and for fun. get out on the track and see. only then could you ever really appreciate your gains as you add them.

Corvettes require a driver, they are a skilled mans car. Even with straight line performance it takes great skill to harness their potential. I just started drag racing my car this summer, got hooked badly.
first night out thought id run a 10.xx since I came swinging with a LS7 stage 3 head cam package and a set of slicks. went home humbled with a 11.77 @ 127mph.......been at it all summer and with the very same car and build, currently bested at 10.57 @ 136.5mph and still have lots of room to improve.

if you're anything like me, and just kinda getting started, the car is more car than you probably are driver. Have fun, and get on the track asap.

And I'd add that the best first money spent would be for skill upgrades at either Bondurant or Spring Mountain.

Are these better: http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tir...sport-ps2.html
Or these:
http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tir...per-sport.html

I cant afford cup tires so it will have to be one of these. Im hoping the pilot super sports are better because they are cheaper.

The pilot sports are more well rounded and have better wear characteristics. The super sports are a better "performance" Tire. Both are miles better than a Goodyear runflats. And If you follow the same ship so many people have including myself, and rid yourself of runflats altogether, you'll be even more happy with the upgrade.
