Default Popping While Turning

Hi all,

I recently started hearing a popping sound when I turn right at slow speeds. I don't really notice it at higher speeds, but it is pretty noticeable at slow speeds. It does not occur once at every rotation of the wheel, but it is pretty continuous as long as I am turning. It even seems to sound like it's popping in groups of four.

I was thinking maybe wheel bearing or end links, but does anyone have any ideas of what to check? Help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Does it sound like popping or as though you are running over a leaf (or two) when the car moves forwards or backwards? If so, my bet would be axle nuts, and those are a very easy fix. There are A LOT of write-ups on them on the forums here. I had the same problem myself, and the fix was done in less than 30 mins. The hard part was waiting 24 hrs for the Loctite to set before driving it.

What year and mileage?

I have an 08. If the fluid in the rear end needs to be changed, the scraping noise will go away after a handful of turns. It may be wheel bearings but id try the axle nuts.
I had a clicking coming from the rear of mine only at slow speeds and turning right. I read that it may be the axle nut torque and grease the splines while you're there. GM increased torque from 118-140 ft/lbs I believe. I bought new axle nuts (like $3 a pop) from GM. I bought this 34mm socket
TEKTON 4934 1/2-Inch Drive by 34mm Heavy Duty FWD Impact Socket - - Amazon.com TEKTON 4934 1/2-Inch Drive by 34mm Heavy Duty FWD Impact Socket - - Amazon.com
Remove the old one, install the new one, and torque to 140. Some use blue Loctite but I used my old nut to double nut the axle. I did unbolt the sway link, upper control arm, shock, caliper, and tie rod so I could pull the axle out to grease the splines. My noise is completely gone.

'Normal' front tire scrubbing. More pronounced in cold weather.

sorry if you said so but i can't see it.
if it's the back, theres an issue with the hub axle nut torque. torque them to 151ft. if the wrench turns before it clicks....they've backed off. new nut, blue loctite, and torque to 151

I would check your end links ( both sides ) as they tend to go out rather fast and will cause I click.
