You can get solenoids mounted at most auto electric shops for $30-40. Make sure there is some slack in the cables when installing. Tension will snap that post off quickly.
I was in a spot where I needed my car to get to work when the first starter went out. So I got one from O'Reillys and put it in.
I did make sure there was not tension on cables on the last one since I replaced all cables with newer thicker guage ones. Now the alternator wire is going straight to the battery and not the starter.
Yesterday I took it to a local Tuner Henderson Performance. He changed the fan settings, eliminated rear o2 sensors and the annoying skip shift.
On the way over to his shop cutting through traffic I hit 230 on coolant temp. I got to thinking this was while doing 60-80 mph. I was thinking heck maybe the radiator is very clogged and needs to be recore.
Driving home from the Tuner about 5:30pm 1.5 Hr drive becuase of traffic. I hit 225 but was at 208 for a long time.
About 8pm I took the air intake off and the top shroud. The was a crap load of leaves and grass between the radiator and condenser. I used the water hose the best I could to clear it out. So I fired her up watched temps settle to 182-185 I took it for a shot trip at first higher rpms and low speed to get it to 190 then cruised it and dropped to a low of 174. Light throttle was 180. At one point sitting at 180 I hit the gas and I can tell a big difference in power. It was breaking traction at 70 mph. I didn't hear a backfire last night. This morning I did hear a not so loud backfire. I still need to recheck the exhaust bolts. I probably should remove the radiator to properly clean it out externally also maybe just get it recorded while I'm at it.
