I have a 2006 z51 M6 LS2 I bought from a chevy dealership with only 24,000 miles on it. The day I bought it I drove it less than a mile to my home. When I pulled in my driveway the clutch pedal went to the very bottom of floor, like it was spring loaded to do that? I pulled it back up and stepped on the clutch again, same thing, over and over.
So called them and had it towed back to the dealer.
They ended up putting a whole new complete clutch in it. And they did it at no cost to me obviously. Well 900 miles later it just did the same thing. Any guesses? I called them today, and they told me to bring it in Monday. Has any one ever had this happen to them or herd of this happening?
Define what was included in the "whole new complete clutch". Master cylinder, slave cylinder? Clutch itself only?
they told me all three things were replaced. but when I picked up the car the manager had a death in the family and didn't have the paper work finished, told me to come back tomorrow and he would give me the paperwork. I forgot and never picked it up. But I will ask for it on Monday when I take the car back in. They had the car for three days.
And I talked to my service writer, whom is good associated friend and he told me I think they replaced everything? So will see

Doesn't anybody read the stickys? your clutch fluid is dirty!!!!!! Google the "ranger method" or roll up some paper towels about the size of your clutch fluid res. take the cap off soak up mop up or use a turkey baster to get ALL the fluid out{don't touch the clutch while you do this} now that the RES. is empty and clean, refill the res. with a good fluid of your choice, I recommend a GOOD syn. now that you have it full start pumping the pedal. for those of you that have the problem intermittently it will clear up quickly! for those of you stuck on the floor it may take some time keep pumping, if not the dealer will have to bleed, NOW do this 4 or so times a year and you will never have the problem again! schpenxel is right that people have had this trouble for a while but he's wrong about the spring! doesn't have crap to do with it! if you want "better feel" out of the clutch put a C5 spring in! the spring is actually for clutch feel
People have complained about Corvette clutch pedals sticking to the floor since 1997..
There's an assist spring on the pedal that you can remove that might help, assuming there isn't another problem
I have read a little about that, I understand that every one so far says the clutch has more feeling to it and has better manners in traffic as well.
Where is the spring exactly? I heard it's a quick fix?

I just did, makes a lot of sense to me. I'm going to get on the ranger method ASAP!
But right now the clutch is still popping to the floor? so I will go and look at in the morning. but it still may have to go to the dealer if I cant fix the problem as it might have caused bigger issues and keep in mind it just did this like 900 miles ago and they replaced everything fluid as well and I have drove it easy no tracking either?

He just said he thought the slave and master were brand new. Can't be dirty if all the hydraulics and fluid were replaced.

Is it worth checking anyways? Of course.
the paper towels work well too I've been doing it since 07, he said "they changed 3 pieces"{don't see anywhere it says master&slave} to me that means CLUTCH< PRESSURE PLAtE AND FLY WHEEL, he got a new clutch because the dealer doesn't read what GM sends him.

Of course and I will.
Done a lot of reading posts took a lot of notes to bring with me on Monday. I want this to go away I don't like cars I cant depend on..
This thing looks and drives like it is brand new only 25,000 mi.

I'll know on Monday but I think they said clutch master cylinder and slave?
I'm persistant and I do my do diligence. I will get this fixed and fixed right if it kills me. And what ever I have to do to maintain it I will do! It's still a warranty thing cuz it did this a mile down the road when I first bought it. and they did all that work at no charge so going back for the same thing so, they'll cover it.
Thanks for every ones feed back so far
Tim

I would doubt that they would change that on a clutch job, BUT if they did then the tech didn't bleed it very well. as long as they own it let them fix it, but if you change the fluid in the future at the same time you do engine oil, you will never have the dreaded "pedal on the floor " again
I doubt that there was actually anything wrong with the clutch, unless the previous owner was real hard on it.
More than likely, the master clutch cylinder is the issues here.
It was reported here that a forum member's clutch master came apart internally, causing the pedal to stay at the floor. He took it apart and found the problem, put the internal pieces back together which fixed the issue.
But true, the fluid needs to be clean and maintained regularly.

What kind of fluid should I use Prestone dot 3 syn brake fluid?
And if it keeps snapping back to the floor how do you suggest I pump the clutch? just keep pushing it and pull it back up until it finally comes back up on its own then pump the heck out of it?
Whatever it reads on top of the cap, and yes I believe it's DOT3.
You may have to use your hand to pump the clutch, and try only going about half way down in order to get the pressure back up, if there is nothing wrong with the master or slave cylinder.
If you get disengagement, clear out the reservoir and replenish again with clean fluid several times; finish when the fluid comes up clear.
Hopefully if this doesn't fix the clutch, the dealer will make good on the repair.

The fluid was dark. I changed it with dot 3 syn High temp. and did the rodger method 4 times.. Pedal still on the floor changed the fluid out 4 times still comes back dirty. After all that was changed, isn't it common to bleed out the system? would it be this dark after 900 miles of just normal street driving. Got on it a few times but nothing major!
So looks like it goes back to the dealer to get fixed. I think it's got like One year 12,000 mi parts and labor warranty. Even though they fixed it for free the last time. They told me to bring it in and they would take care of it tomorrow .

Ahh you said to keep doing it till it comes back clear? I did it like 4 times, should I keep doing it even if it takes like 10 times to come back clear?
