Will a HUD from a 2006 up work in a 2005? I just looked up one for a 2005 and it shows discountinued?

According to GM parts website, 2005-2013 share the same part number. So I guess yes.

Does it already have a HUD? if not, you may want to buy the kit from Cultrag because you need a special harness.

Yes the car has HUD. The mirror inside it broke off the mounting and when you drive the car the display on the windshield is bouncing all over. I have had a few C5/C6 cars that had this problem.

Thanks for the referral. We can sell just the HUD projector and they do work in all 2005 through 2013 models.
