My driver door (2009 base) won't open from the outside, or inside. I've tried changing the handle from the passenger door, and changing it out with the driver side, and still...same thing. The window will index, but that is it.
While sitting in the car, with it turned off, when I push the button on the door, it sounds like a "click" is heard in the glove box area. Is that where the fuses are?
Sometimes the door opens, and sometimes it doesn't. When I don't drive the car, its hooked up to a battery tender. When I unhook it from the battery tender, the door usually opens from the outside. Could it possibly be my battery? Everything else seems to work fine. My warranty is expired, and I definitely don't want to go to the dealer unless it's last resort.
There are several things that can go bad. The outside door switch, the inside door switch, the door control module and the door latch. If neither the inside or outside door switch permits the door to open then the problem isn't one of the switches as it is very rare for two problems to occur at the same time. I have had two of these problems, first the door control module went and two years later the latch went bad. If the door control module is the problem you may also notice some window indexing problems, on my car the first thing I noticed was the window wouldn't go all the way up, then the door wouldn't open outside or inside and finally the doors wouldn't open and the window went crazy continually trying to index as I drove down the road and did it until we pulled the battery cable. If it is the latch in the B pillar you will get symptoms like you are having. I would check the latch first to see if it is working properly.
If you have a scanner that can read B codes you will probably see what is wrong.
