I've spent the better part of two hours looking on here and various sites and still unsure what to do. I'm wanting to buy some R compound tires for the rear of my 07 base model. I'd prefer to buy some in the stock diameter unless I can get away with a 295/30 or 305/30 with out having issues. I'm really partial to the R888.

I live way down south so temperature is not an issue and I'd typically drive in it spring to fall but want the tires to be good in wet weather. The biggest reason for an R tire is to put power to the ground without sacrificing handling.

I would imagine that the Michelin Pilot Super Sport might be your next best bet. They are pretty sticky when they're warmed up. They also have a different tread compounds built into the tire for wet & dry handling benefits.
what size wheel are you going to run? I am looking at getting 18s all around for track day. I wish i could do 17s but mine is a z51 and very likely will not clear any type of 17s up front. tires for cheaper diameter wheels are much cheaper and the wheels are lighter too.

Although I don't know exactly which other 17" wheels (C4 wheels) will fit on the front, but switching to base JL9 rotors allows me to run a 17" GTO spare wheel without spacers. Using track pads vs street pads will be better than the best street pads on your J55 rotors. The rotors are cheaper and you get to drop off another 15 pounds of rotating weight in the process.

While dropping weight is nice, it's going to make the car handle like crap. I'd prefer to maintain the good handling it has.
I guess that I missed the 600whp part. WhatRYAgonnadoooo? If you find out how to have your cake & eat it too, let me know...lol
That seems to be the problem I keep running in to. I think I'm gonna stick with some PS2 for now and upgrade my wheels and tires at some point with R compound tires. Ohh wellll, the problems of having power lol.
