Default Need help on aftermarket Nav system.

I have an aftermarket Nav system in the 2005 base C6 I just purchased..I'm not sure what brand it is, because there's no name on the outside of the unit. The unit isn't working properly so I would like to go back to the 6 disk/ radio stock unit that came in a lot of these cars.. Will the 6 disk unit just bolt back in and work as it should, or will I have to have anything else done like getting a dealer involved..I have the Bose system in the car..Should the stock connectors still be there?? .Also "what years" 6 disk units will work in my car...Sorry for all the questions, but I'm really not very familiar with these cars yet....Thanks WW

A stock unit "should" go right back in BUT......there is no way to know if any wiring/connectors were compromised when the aftermarket unit was installed until you get in there and look.

Any year radio will work but you will likely have to go to a dealer to have the radio VIN matched to your car using the Tech II.

Who knows how the aftermarket radio was put in. Installers *should* use adapter harnesses that plug into the car's harness without modding them, but I've seen sloppy/amateur installers just cut off the plugs too for splicing into the aftermarket radio.

Also to Rick's point, unless you buy a brand-new, NEVER-installed-before, factory C6 radio, or happen to find the *exact* individual radio unit that was in your car from the factory (unlikely, unless the seller provided it to you with the car), you'll definitely need a dealer visit to perform a VIN Relearn procedure to marry your 'used' C6 radio to your Corvette.

I would recommend that you just Dennis at DoubleD once you get the broken radio out and have Dennis send you another radio that is ray to go.

Thanks for the replys, I guess I have to dig into the dash to see what I have before I make any decisions..The guy that installed the radio was the last owner, he screwed up the radio bezel so bad I need to get a new one , looks like he used a dremel on it.....God only knows what he may have done to the wiring......Just incase I can get a good deal on a used unit , do you know how much the dealership charges to pull out their Tech2 and program a used radio?..WW
