Default Tire Size with OEM Wheels

Hello, I am trying to get the best tire size with the OEM Wheels. I want to purchase new wheels with the OEM size and looking to get a tire that can fill up more the space on height and wide. let me know what size can I get for that.

Thanks

JC

So the 2005 base w/Z51, these should be your factory sizes yes?

F 245/40ZR18
R 285/35ZR19

F 18 x 8.5 +56
R 19 x 10.0 +79 (I believe)

So here is what it would look like on the rear with 305's

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...et2=79#content

and fronts with 265's

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php...et2=56#content

Not saying they will work, but this is a great tool to check things out. Good luck

8.5" front rims = 255 recommended maximum tires.

10" rear rims = 295 recommended maximum tires.

Why not wider? Simply, because the additional width will roll up the shoulders of the tire causing instability at higher speeds.

Can it be done? Yes, but not recommended.

Go on Tire Rack and look up the tire size you plan on using, the recommended rim size is listed under specs. Then, you can go to the link provided above to check dimensions and speedo errors. Heck, you can plug in a 345 tire on a 2" rim and it will give you dimensions and speedo errors, but not the recommended tire/rim size you are asking.

Thanks a lot Mike!!! This is great data. Should I keep the same height in the tire? What do you recommend?

It's best to stay around 1" to 1.4" difference from front to rear heights. Stock front to rear on the Goodyear EMT's list a 1.2" difference. Yes, it's also good to stay around the stock rear height which is 26.9" for the speedometer.

Michelin Super Sports 255/40/18 = 26" front diameter tire. (non run flat)

Michelin Super Sports 295/35/19 = 27.1" rear diameter tire. (non run flat)

Front to Rear Difference = 1.1" which is fine.

Height difference between the oem 285 tire and S.S. 295 tire is .2".

According to the speedo calculator the 295 tire with a 27.1 diameter at 60mph = 59.39 mph.

These are the tires I would run with the oem rims!

and you can always tune the ECM for the new setup.

That's what I did for my 305's tires using HPtuners.
