Last weekend was hot in SoCal, so I turned on the a/c. No cooling, just hot ambient air. I am hoping enough r134 has leaked out over the past 8 years of ownership that the low pressure switch has deactivated the compressor. However, the control unit has acted flakey at times over the last couple years but has always reset and worked. I will measure the system pressure when cold and see if it is too low to allow the compressor to kick in. If so, I can vacuum the system, check for leaks, and then recharge.

Any other suggestions?
I just went through the same thing with my 2006. I don't think they have the low pressure switch as my compressor was still engaged with ambient air coming out of the vents. I hooked up the gauges and noticed green oil all around the high pressure cap. High pressure side was only around 80psi, added a can of R134a and the pressure raised to 250psi. A/C is cold now.
I also noticed a slight bubbling on the check ball of the high side, popped the gauge connector on and off several times, and it still bubbles. I believe that is where my slow leak is.

Thanks for the tip. I have seen that on other cars too. I will start with that check.
