Default Squeaky brakes

My 2013 Grand Sport's brakes squeak with normal application. Only if I barely press on them to slow down will they not squeak. If I press harder, they squeak louder. I did clean the wheels the other day and the squeak went away for a few days, but it returned.

Normal condition? Learn to live with it? Get it checked out under warranty?

Thanks for the time,
Pops

Squeaky brakes are pretty common with the factory pads. Many switch to ceramic pads and in most cases that significantly reduces or eliminates squeaks, but it does cost money.

I suggest you try "bedding" your current pads.....that is.....heat the pads up enough to deposit a nice layer of pad material on the rotors. It doesn't cost anything and it may work.

This is a general procedure, some specific pads and materials require a little different but this is good for stock. You will need to plan a time and place to do this so that you don't impact other drivers and no one else impedes you:

Make 8 - 10 repeated stops from approximately 45 MPH down to 20 MPH, applying moderate/hard pressure.

DO NOT DRAG BRAKES! DO NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP! YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SMELL THE HOT BRAKE PADS! IF YOU DO HAVE TO COME TO A STOP DON'T HOLD THE BRAKE PEDAL, USE THE E-BRAKE MOMENTARILY!

Drive for at least 15 minutes without using the brakes to allow cool down.
