Default harmonic?

Is this the harmonic going bad or just a belt? It has a wee bit of a wobble, but this chirping will not stop above 1k rpm. We noticed it after doing a hard 2nd and 3rd pull. We also smelled a burnt rubber smell or dead skunk (it is Georgia)

10 sec video of the noise, while looking at the belt:

I can hardly see any movement in that balancer. Mine was way worse when I replaced it. I think that noise is a bad belt or a pulley going bad. Maybe post another clip with the camera steady but based on that clip the balancer looks fine to me.

If you watch closely the chirping happens and the balancer appears to smooth out some.

Run it without the belt and see how much the balancer moves. I'd change the belt if I were changing the balancer anyway so you may as well give it a shot now..but make sure you buy a good one like a gatorback, gates, or ac delco belt.

Sounds like a plastic pulley is out of grease to me, or possibly a bad belt...Take the plastic pulleys off and regrease them.. The wobble you have in your balancer is about the same as mine has (or maybe less) , it should take more wobble then that to have a problem....WW

Tell us what it was OP once it gets fixed.

One of the you tubes after OP's shows a comparo of good and bad HB due to obvious wobble (which most have seen).

That doesn't look that bad wobble wise to me

Pull the belts off, start the car and make sure the noise goes away

If it does, spin each of the accessories and pullies by hand (engine off, obviously) and see if any of them feel like their bearings are gone.

I've always had luck finding squeaks on pulleys by using some type of lube.Wd40 kroil etc.

I just use the straw equipped with it and lube each pulley bearing by just letting a little come out the end of the straw onto the bolt/bearing area.Till it stops and then I replace that pulley bearing assy.

I'm betting it's a bad bearing in the tentioner pulley.

Take the belt off and spin the plastic pulleys to see if they spin freely and if they keep on spinning...If they spin real easy then they're dry and need to be regreased or replaced....Mine had no grease in them at all when I got my car at 78,000 miles..Greasing is cheaper and works just as well as long as the bearings look ok...Just use a high speed , high temp grease for bearings.....WW

May I please ask with all due respect as to why GM Chevrolet Division doesn't step up to this obvious defect ??? It isn't a new problem. A recall/ customer satisfaction repair letter would be in order if an owner were having this problem don't you think??
It would go a long ways in smoothing ruffled feathers.
I read all the time about the HB going bad and it aint cheap to fix. I know that if mine goes out on a pampered 2011 GS Corvette with only 27,000 mi I would be irate, to the point that Chevrolet would be on my "do not buy" list
Care to comment??
BTW mine does "wobble" but no noise YET!!!

Point; Toyota Highlander V-6 motors was having some problems after we bought ours in 2003, some kind of mechanical problem.
Although ours never had the particular defect they sent out a letter stating that they were aware of the situation and if it were to occur they were extending the power train warranty another 5 years/100,000 MI, confidence is key!!
Thank You NSF

I just found I've got the squeak and wobble. It's kinda loud. How bad does this get? Is it something that should be repaired right away, like don't drive it?
