Default LS2 NPP exhaust options

Planning out some short-term modifications for my new toy, an 06 M6 Vert. I went to Wrong Turn Fitment in Wilkesboro this weekend and met someone with a M2W on an LS3. I really like the option of switching between "playtime" and "chilltime", and I expect it really helps out with inspections as well. So, I'd like to know all my options for a manual-controlled NPP.

So far my searches have resulted in two options:
  • Stock mufflers from an 08+ base model LS3
  • Billy Boat Fusion exhaust.

If anyone knows of any other ways to put a M2W setup on an LS2, can you please share them? I'd like to stick with the 2.5 inch exhaust for now, sometime down the road I'll probably do forced induction at which point I'll be rethinking the whole exhaust setup. Until then, I'd like to have the option to press a button and say "I'm here."

I put a used set of Z06 mufflers on my 2006 Coupe with the MTW and old school switch. Love it. Have had them on for several years now.

Aren't the Z06 mufflers 3"?

Yes, the Z06 mufflers are 3", but they neck down to 2.5" right at the cans. There are a few different solutions for installing Z06 mufflers on LS2 or LS3 C6's:
-Install a 3" x-pipe.
-Use couplers to fit the z06 3" pipes to the stock 2.5" H-pipe.
-cut off 3" pipes from z06 mufflers and weld pipes from stock exhaust in their place.
-cut off 3" pipes at the neck-down point and install couplers at the muffler to adapt for 2.5" stock pipes.

Keep in mind that the pre-2011 C6 Z06 mufflers were different from 2011+, the latter are more aggressive in open mode and have more deceleration popping that a lot of people like. The early ones are often modified internally to make them louder/more aggressive.

You'll need a complete controller kit (not just the M2W switch) and will have to run a vacuum supply hose from the manifold to the exhaust control valves. The BB fusions can be purchased with the kit, other options will require you to source a kit from Billy Boat or LEEA Customs Inc.

NPP was an option on 08+ LS3, many stock mufflers on 08+ base were still non-NPP.
Another 3" bi-mode solution is Akropovic, but it'll cost ya.

Can do Z06 manifolds/cats + Z06 3" bi-mode also if you want something that flows a bit better up front without doing long tubes

Here's my '06. I used Z06 mufflers with 2.5" pipes. Couldn't use 3" because mines an auto.

Just use the NPP mufflers from an 08, and a mild2wild switch. The option of quiet or loud is amazing... best of both words. You wont have to change them if you go forced induction. The 2 1/2 NPP will be fine.

Thanks for the feedback all, I went with the B&B Fusions, installed last week. Happy to say I completed the install in one night and it went without a hitch. I'm very happy with the open sound, and pleasantly surprised at how well they quiet down closed. Truth be told I only close them when I'm coming home at midnight to be nice to the neighbors...
