I picked up a 2008 LS3 Auto, 12k miles
When I go from Reverse to Drive its seems to have so much torque that it wants to turn the back tires and you get a loud grind from what appears to be the brakes holding but turning slightly.
I cant tell if it is the trans grinding or if it is just the noise from the brakes holding.
Anyone one else run into this issue?
Should the trans have that much torque that it tries to turn the tires?
Idle is normal....
When you say idle is normal, what rpm is it? If you are doing this shift very soon after starting, then the idle will be higher and this behavior would be normal. Mine is a stick so I can't say from experience, but it seems to me that if the idle is right around 600 rpm, the engine would not bang so hard as to chirp the tires when shifting into gear.
Idle is about 700
The car is warm.
It's when I put in reverse and back up. Then shift to drive to go forward. I get the grind sound and wants to turn the back tire.
The car shifts normal when driving.
