Default First trip to Maple Grove

Hi All,

Took my C6 to the track for the first time this past Friday, at Maple Grove Raceway.

My car is a 2008 Z51 A6 with NPP and 2.73's.

Only mod is a diablosport intune 91octane canned tune.

Tires remained at 32psi, as thats what I run on the street. Launched at 1000rpm. This friday I'm dropping to 28psi and leaving at 1200rpm.

These LS3's are incredible, I was really pleased with my times. If anybody is in SE Pennsylvania, come out to grudge night on Fridays!

Thanks!

I can get 93 at sunoco gas stations around me, but they are not convenient to get to. Sometimes I'm lazy and don't feel like going out of my way, so I grab 92 at other stations. I'm running the 91 tune so I don't have any issues. I plan on getting long tubes and a professional tune soon, and then I will make myself get the 93

For this upcoming friday, I'll get 93 and use the diablo 93 tune and report back in this thread with my new times. Perhaps with that and lowering tire pressure I can shave a bit of time down. I really want my 60' to be under 2.00

Thanks , I have long tubes and a CAI and want to take my car to the track just to see what number it will post .

When you launched at 1000 RPM did you experience a lot of wheel spin ?

I am worrid about that as right now if I just mash the throttle on the street a do get a lot of wheel spin with my Michlen pilot super sports

I am running Firestone Firehawks in the stock size, non run flat. My first pass of the day was my fastest, and the one posted. I got zero spin on that initial launch at 32psi. I credit that to the track temperature at that time. My later runs were after cloud cover rolled in and things cooled down, and I experienced mild spin on the rest of my runs, resulting in my slowest run of 12.51 @ 114.8.

I suspect your Michelins are much stickier than my firestones, although I do recommend airing down to 28psi. Again, I will post my new times at 28psi after Friday.

Traction control and active handling both off, which is competitive driving mode. Trans in S mode, no paddles.

Not quite.

Traction/AH off and competitive driving mode are two totally separate things

Holding the button down for 10-15 seconds will disable TC/AH altogether. Competitive driving mode diminishes them, but they are still there.

Got a new best on friday night.

It was my last run of the night when it cooled down to about 75*. I got a tank of 93 and uploaded the diablo 93 tune. TC/AH completely disabled. Tires at 26psi. Glad to see my first sub 2sec 60ft.

My Texas Speed headers and Xpipe arrive on Wednesday!

Tell me more about it. How do you qualify and how long did it take to get up to the starting line. I just may meet you out there next time.

Really???
Not sure what you are driving but with CAI , headers ,high flow cats, NPP's open and a Tune with TC on and brand new pilot super sports I can break them loose just punching it to the floor and the shift into second is violent. ...

With TC off I can blow the tires off the car ........that is why I am asking at what rpm he was launching at......

Yes, I get wheel spin launching from 1000rpm in my car on street tires. Have you ever driven an A6 LS3? It's fun

No qualifying is necessary, it's just a grudge racing night. You pay the entrance fee, get your car tech inspected, and then you run heads up against whatever car you happen to be next to. What do you drive? If it's faster than 12.5, you need a SNELL approved helmet. There's never a whole lot of waiting, and enough time to let the car cool down between runs. It's a ton of fun to use your car the way it was intended to be used! If you are local to Maple Grove, it is a great way to spend a friday evening. hope to see you there!

Finally got my car back to Maple Grove after installing my TSP longtubes and dyno/street tune by CSP.

I don't have a picture of the timeslip at the moment, but I was very happy considering it was 90* and very humid on friday night.

12.181 @ 117.56mph
1.987 60ft

In good air, I see a very very low 12 out of this setup, but I may never find out as I will be ordering nitto nt05r's this week.

I'm considering bracket racing the car in the "street" bracket racing class this weekend at the grove

Thanks for reading guys and gals, and get your car out to a track! You will have a blast and your car will love you for it

Also, every trip to the track I realize more and more that I NEED a higher stall torque converter. I am leaving so much on the table with the stock converter. Really considering a 3200 FTI or Circle D triple disc converter in the very near future.
