I have a 07 Base and while driving all of a sudden I will get a "Sevice Fuel System" warning and my fuel gauge goes to mt. This comes and goes while I'm driving, any have any experience with this?
Yeah, this is a issue with the fuel senders, usually the right tank one goes bad first. Some people have good luck adding Techron fuel additive and the problem may solve it' self. Seems that a film from the sulfur in gas coats the contacts on the fuel level switch, creating a bad signal. There are two of them, one in each tank, if your not familiar with the system.
They also can wear out with higher mileage cars, and nothing will help except replacement.
There is a lot of posting about the fuel senders.
Check this link to give you some ideas of what the issues are. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ification.html

Thanks Extrapilot, I will be reading the link you sent now, thanks for the lead I appreciate it.
Overfilling the tank can cause this to happen also..When I first got my car I would "top off " the tank at fill up , the gauge would stop working and I would get that same message that you got until some of the gas got used up , then it would start working normal again..Now , as soon as the gas pump kicks off I stop pumping gas , haven't had the problem since.......WW

This I didn't know could happen, Thanks for that. I guess the contacts go off the board when over filled.
Interesting WW7, I did do this on my last tank, the pump kept shutting off early so I kept filling and probably did over fill it. Hopefully this is it as I didn't get any codes, I ran a scan as soon as it happened. Thanks for the insight. Thanks to everyone for the help.
