Air Filter Splash shield
I hope for my sake this is not a stupid question,but what is the function of the three small foam cushions on top of the air filter splash shield? Does the hood rest against this when it is closed?thanks.

That's weird.
Never thought much about those three circular pieces of foam...guess...they press against the closed hood to limit vibrations/ rattles.
If the shield is catching the hinge the shield is out or alignment.
It is a "funky" loose clip on system so make sure the clips are engaging...both sides.
Perhaps the shield was heated and the plastic has misformed?
Is the hinge out of alignment?
Anyway, best guess the shield is not installed correctly.

PS Perhaps that shield only functions as to prevent water from going to the air cleaners when the hood is raised...so you could remove the shield with no adverse effects.
