Default Removing the intake manifold?

any tips or tricks to removing the intake manifold? do you leave the injectors in? torque pattern? I'm asking because I might install one of those thermo pads to the underside of the manifold, it's an 06 if I remember the oil pressure sending unit is underneath? is there a relocation kit? I'll replace it any way. any more gaskets besides the ports? thanx Quinn

You can unhook the fuel rail in advance and pull the manifold and fuel rail as a unit.

I think the hardest part of install and removal are the back 2 bolts. The way you can get around that is to get the bolts fully loosened and make sure they are out of their respective holes enough for the manifold to move, and then take a zip tie and place it around the bolt directly in front of it tight enough to hold it up so that you don't have to juggle them.

As for dealing with the oil sender I always just remove the brake booster hose from the fitting on the brake booster itself and snake the hose around.

Here is a removal tutorial that uses tape to deal with those back bolts:

I hated getting the brake booster back on...I did it the difficult way and removed it from the back of the intake (stupid me). Other than that, changing the oil pressure sensor was a relatively easy job. Just unplug everything and plug it back in! The link sevinn has above is what I used as a guide for the first go around.

Yes! thanks to Sevinn, I have seen that write up, I know the the oil sensor won't be hard to change, but I'm trying to remember if they made a "relocation kit" for it because of the location under the manifold?

It's not really "under" the manifold. It's behind it. Don't think it would interfere with that heat shield.

I know when I was looking at how to replace the oil sensor there was mention of a relocation kit. I didn't really find it necessary after seeing the easy steps to replace it. Either way, good luck!

Default Tape on the bolts

I tape the bolts so they are sticking about 1 inch out of the manifold. The reason is that some of them will not go in with the injector rail on or like the guy said the bolts in the back will not go on. The reason to tape them up an inch is so that is does not get in the way when you slide it back. Once manifold is in just pop tape of and they should drop in. Also helps taping them first before you pull them out as if they hang down they get caught on stuff. As I said just the 4 bolts (2 each side) in the back and the ones that wont come off with fuel rail.

I always struggle with the vacuum hose for the brake booster on the back. It's a bit of a pain. It gets caught on the oil pressure sensor

I used zip ties to hold the rear two bolts up

You can leave pretty much everything installed injector, etc. wise and pull it off as an assembly

Gaskets can be re-used but won't hurt to replace them obviously

Torque on the bolts is VERY low, so don't over tighten them. I go in criss cross patterns 3-4x. The first time times when I'd tighten them all down they'd be loose again once all of them were even.. so repeat a few times.
