I just got done rebuilding my 07 with a TSP 427. When the old motor was out the ac compressor was never disconnected. We just swung it out of the way. Long story short after we took it out for its first drive on Sunday and the ac does not get cold. On max ac is just blows warm air. The compressor engages and disengages when you hit the ac button.
I took it to a good friend who works at a toyota dealer and he evacuated the whole system let it sit in vacuum then recharged the system. The low side was spot on but the high side was a little low. I also went ahead and replaced the outside temp sensor as well.
Not a damm thing had changed. Does anyone had any clue where I should go next to figure this out. Is there something simple I am missing?
Im guessing maybe there is something clogging the lines but I really dont know much about ac so Im at a loss
Damm florida summers and making that car awful hard to break in
For the moment, this is just a diagnostic question. When you operate the various modes, switching from sending the air to the floor vents, to the dash vents, to the defroster and recirc, does all of that work as it should?
A couple questions. What are the high and low pressures? Temp out of vent? High should be 200 plus and low 25-30 ish. Temp out of vent 50 or less. Sounds like maybe low on charge, since you say high pressure low, but pressure numbers would help.
I charge by temp out of vent, while monitoring gauge pressures and my refrigerant in weight.
Just to add to my reply. You could add a little refrigerant and watch your vent temp. If the temp drops then your on the right track more than likely. Be patient as you add. Little at a time wait a few minutes, check temp etc etc.
Thank you for the response. I have to put the gauges back on to see what the numbers where. I know the low side was around 30 but I cant remember the high side. The vent temp was high 70's
Make sure your condenser is clean/not clogged with debris that could restrict airflow (goes for radiator too). Same with making sure your cooling fans work properly.
When your friend recharged the system, did he charge it by refrigerant weight or eyeball it?
The cooling fan seems to work fine. I have to ask him. I think he just filled it watching the gauges. He told me he did not want to add anymore in fear of over charging. I still have to put the gauges on it to see what the high side is.
I had a low side gauge on it today. With the comp off the pressure was high off the cheap gauge. As soon as I kicked it over on the comp the pressure came right down to 25 low side

On a system with 1.1 lbs. total refrigerant, there's not a lot of room for error in getting the correct charge.
C5's had issues with a vent door gear slipping a tooth if I remember correctly which would make them send out warm'ish air even though the AC part of the system was working perfectly fine
I'd do some searching around about that and see if you can find anything. I don't think this is an "AC" system issue. It's something with how hot/cold air are being mixed IMO. It's acting like you have it set to say 72* instead of 60* it sounds like
Just an update took the car out at lunch and it seems like if the blower is on MAX the pass. side is ice cold the drivers side HOT. If I bring the blower down 2-3 bars the drivers side cools down. I dont think it is as cool as the pass side but it does get allot cooler
Glad you got the refrigeration part worked out. Head pressure looks good. Was it the refrigerant charge?
Thank you for all the help. Yea we got it all straight now. The high side was a little low the number escapes me now but We put the pump on it and cleared it all out then filled it again and it was good to. Maybe there was some dirt or who knows that came out when we cleared it again. But all the pressures look great 30ish low side 220-230 high side
Going to try to pull this actuator out on the drivers side this weekend and see if that's whats causing the drivers side to blow hot

This was exactly the issue with my 06 Z the condenser and radiator were both well clogged with leaves and even deer guts.
