Hello, I have had electrical gremlins in my Z06 and would like some input from the forum. Every 3rd or forth time I drive the car I get a service light and voltage reads 10V-11V. This would last for about 20 min then it would show 13-14V..... Now its at 10-12V with warning lights. Barley made it home before the battery was dead... Charged the battery and tested alternator and it is working fine.... Would like some recommendations for a self fix, or should I take this over to our friends at Abel ?
Thanks in advance
Hence you want to make sure that the alternator to battery wire connection are good on the solenoid. Also, double check your battery ground wire at the other side of the battery.
As for after market plugs and wires, then don't have the needed resistance to prevent RF interference feed back through the coils to the ECM, and since the ECM is controlling the alternator, then it causes the ECM to clip the voltage that the alternator is putting out instead.
The alternator should be putting out 14.6 volts/ What the ecm should be holding it at.
