Default Getting a Grip! Street driven radials question

Picked up my c6 about a month ago and sadly the car came on aftermarket wheels that are super bad. 22 inch donks. They have to go. I'm looking to "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" here and do so by using the "best bang for the buck" approach. I street drove Weld RTS and slicks on my turbo WS6 for a while and it wasn't too bad. The flimsy skinnies up front never stopped sketching me out though, so this time I want to go with somet a little more practical.

That being said, it slipped my mind to consider brake size when contemplating what wheels to buy, as I had settled quickly on a set of RTS again in a 15/18 configuration. I was blown away at the cost of spindles so quickly settled on an 18/17 configuration. I was pretty bummed at how quickly the cost doubled just jumping up a few sizes.

So what I have been looking at is a compromise. While not as light or as "good" as the RTS I'm sure, the Dark Stars look like a good middle of the road. My question is, around 500whp is a 275 radial going to do the trick for traction at least enough to no blow through 3 gears lol? I really wish they had just gone to a 10 or 10.5 wide wheel like normal people want, but it is what it is.

Anyone here have experience with the Dark stars with radials on a Z06 configuration? I just can't see spending over 3k for a weekend warrior at the track other than for purely aesthetics.

Called Race Star for giggles and it turns out they have a 17x7 and 18x8.5 front now available for Z06 fitment and they also have a 17x10.5 up from the 17x9.5

Make sure the front to rear tire size ratio remains close to stock or you will have trouble with the traction control system when speed gets high.

hmmm... Good call. I'm unfamiliar with how much wiggle room there is since I want to run a fairly good sized radial. Any clue if it can be "tuned out"? I have HP tuners.

Vette hook much better than f-body's with decent tires (non run flats). My car was making 480whp and 450tq. on 285-19 Bridgestone P-04's. Car hooked from a roll in first gear.

Are you using the term "radial" to describe a drag radial? You know that all modern DOT tires are "radials", right? it

I have the 19" MT ET Street S/S and they hook first with 650 rwhp in 30* weather. You don't need to drop wheel size to hold 500 rwhp.
