I think I just had a lifter fail from what im hearing....The best way to describe it, is all of the sudden it sounded like someone started shaking a pack of tic tacs vigorously. I recently installed a set of Lunati Signature hydraulic link bars with my last heads cam swap and the car made it less than 1000 miles... has anyone had one of these or the Morel equivalent fail on them? It happened right after a cold start at idle as I was coasting out of a driveway. I pulled the covers real quick and all the rockers are tight, pushrods in place, and springs intact so the heads have to come off again. I'm not certain but I don't see what else it could be. I was hoping to see a smoking gun like a loose rocke ect but weirdly enough they seem tight....so my best guess is a roller failure. I don't see what else could cause a noise like that.
When the camshaft was installed was loctite used on the sprocket bolts? If not then your root cause has been identified.

Yes, but I used blue. Arp bolts were used also which scares me. It ran for about 10 to 15 seconds at idle with the noise. I wonder... if this has happened... if it's gonna be a new cam and lifters or if the engine is toast.
New cam and lifters, and make sure you don't trash the lifter bore trying to force it out the top if it broke. Push it down through where the cam was. Clean up debris in the oil pan.
If you trashed a lifter bore, motor has to come out, and that gets pricey quick.

Pulled the cover....cam bolts are tight :/ ...Guess it's time to pull the heads.
So you pulled the valve cover or the timing cover? Did you roll the motor over and check the rockers to see if they have lost their preload?? Did you pull the rockers and push rods to see if you can visually see anything? Have you removed the oil filter and cut it open??

Yes...it turns out that the oil pump has failed. I noticed the pressure stage wouldn't turn freely by hand during disassembly. I took the pump apart and found the gerotor to be cutting into the pump housing. Not sure what caused it or why. No metal in the pump at all and nothing looks to have clogged it. though....there is a bit of very fine glitter in the oil too. Not good.
