Hello,
I just picked up a 2011 GS Coupe and driving back home I noticed that it is really low and I have to come to complete stop on speed bumps. It does scrape the lower air dam.
I measured from the ground to the lip of the Splitter and it is 4". Seller said he did not turn lowering bolts. If any one has this same model I would appreciate if they could check their height and respond to my post.
Other than this one issue, I really like the car and the previous owner really took pride in keeping it in excellent condition.
You are most likely hitting the air dam under the nose rather than the splitter. While I haven't measured mine it looks like it is about 3 inches or less off the ground. Mine hits almost everything and is beat up but it is tough and I can replace it later if I want. Angle entry and crossing is your friend. At first I freaked every time I heard that scraping noise, now I am used to it. The splitter is not normally damaged unless there is a major dip or bump or if you hit a parking curb.
There are two "official" ways to measure ride height. The Kent-Moore J042854 trim height gauge or just use a yard stick to measure the tops of the fender arches. The stock GS heights are 27.3+/-.4" front and 28.2+/-.4" rear. My GS was lowered over 2" in the front and couldn't cross a crack in the road. As a daily driver, it's so much better at stock height.
