I have a 2013 automatic and when in Park it will only let me rev to ~4k rpm...even with my foot on the floor...
Is this a 2013 thing? Or maybe a 2008+ / LS3 update thing? I dont remember my 2006 doing that...If I remember right, I could rev my first C6 to redline...
Park/neutral are set to rev limit of 4K on the newer one.
The rest are at 6600 or 6500 depending on gear.
I don't have time to look through and find stock tunes for auto vs. manual on those years to confirm, but bottom line, it's in the tune and matches what I'm seeing. May be a manual vs. auto thing, may be a model year thing.. I'm not sure, but either way, that's what is there from the factory in the newer cars.

Copies of the stock tunes that I've pulled from stock cars.
Why would you need to go over 4K in park or neutral?
It's probably to stop people from slamming it into drive at 6K+
It may be an auto vs. manual thing and not a model year thing, but either way, I have stock tunes from 2011, 2012 and 2013 that all have 4K limits for neutral and park, so it's not a fluke.

this is the second time in less than a year this questions was asked ....
So I have to post my same reply
WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU WANT TO REV IT THAT HIGH IN PARK FOR ?????
I own a Corvette. I want to rev and drive the sh-t out of it every single day since its my daily-driver as well as my DREAM car. It is a world class sports car I should be able to rev it as I please.....???? Wouldn't you agree??

Not if you want a warranty or it to stay together. If that is what you really want then just get the tune adjusted and you can rev it to 10k if you want.

The exact reason why GM limited the rpm in the tune ..... to protect the engine from no common sense
Yes I drive the crap out of my car , I love to let it loose from a standstill and have it break the tires loose shifting into second , the Rev match downshift is music to my ears but.......
Reving any motor for any period of time at a high rpm with no load on it is just plain old

Agree? Dumber than I thought.
If you truly want to enjoy your car, find a local club to do a track day on a road course. Prepare to be humbled until you learn proper driving and car set up skills. Driving "10/10s" on the street is 50% of what the car is capable of.
Others go drag racing at their local 1/4 mile track.

That kind of mentality is why GM limited rpm at idle. Like Unreal said, GM is protecting the engine while under the warranty. You can alter the tune and rev it as you please, but on your dime.

you just can't fix stupid.it must be hell going through life like this
I cannot believe these responses...You all should buy a Prius or Corolla...Corvette is a world class SPORTS CAR...I should and want to be able to rev my SPORTS CAR to redline in park because it sounds badass and no other car that I know of does this...I have owned 10 cars and 2 bikes...never ran into this its RETARDED. I should just trade it in for a used California lol I wonder if Ferrari sets their rev limiter to 4k rpm...once again for those of you who waste your Corvettes driving them soft you should consider maybe a Front-wheel-drive A3? or a FWD CLA250 haha
