Question was the block removed or all work was done with the block in the car? just want to finf out if the (barbell is inside)
If you want to know if pump side is in good working order dis connect coils harness remove oil filter and crank it up it should pour a lot of oil out the filter area so put a container under it first. if it checks out good try another oil filter.

The block was not removed. The barbell should be intact. I like the sound of your suggestion but, would oil still pour out if the o ring if the oil pickup is pinched ?

Oil should not pour out of the O ring sense the O ring is in the suction pump side best activity is observed with oil filter removed to see quantity of oil gushing out or if is just a dribble.
