Default LS 2 90 MM Throttle Body

I'm getting ready to purchase an LS 2 90 MM throttle body. What is the difference between the silver blade and the gold blade throttle bodies?

ALSO, will the LS 2 intake fit on an LS 6 cathedral port head?

My tuner advised that I am using 100 % of the airflow thru my stock LS 6 intake and that I need a larger throttle body and this seems to be the most inexpensive method of getting there short of purchasing a FAST 92 intake. This is an AFR 205 heads, Texas Torquer 2 cam, ARH header equipped C 5

Thanks for your help.

Can't answer your questions but......general opinion is the LS6 manifold flows better than the LS2, but I don't know that as fact.

Example discussion for your consideration:

Although the ls2 TB intake size is 90mm, the LS6 actually flows better through it runners isntead.

As for the gold verse silver blade 90mm TB, they open opposite of each other. Such problems can re resolve in the tune so the ECM is openning it in the correct direction, but if your are out flowing the ls-6 intake, then chances will be that you will be out flowing a LS-2 intake as well.

So chances will be that you need at least a Fast intake, and may need to even work on the port runners to get the intake to flow correctly for what the engine requires.

Purchase a ported FAST 102 along with a ported 90mm throttle body and call it a day. Your engine combo will thank you.

Your stock T-Body is plenty capable of handling most all heads and cammed cars----The only time i would install a larger T-Body on your application is IF you plan to run your engine consistently above the 6500 to 7000 range---
A simple port and polish from a reputable vendor would be sufficient for your needs---
Yes maybe with the 90 you may gain a few HP---But without hours of tuning and data logging chances are you won't gain a thing and maybe even go backwards

Gold blade is a LS3 style and will work on a LS2 but a silver blade (LS2 style) will NOT work on a LS3. The blade movement is what's different between the two.

I'm running a ported stock LS2 TB. Power in my sig.

You are wrong in that regard. The "gold blade" throttle bodies will not operate correctly and will throw codes on 2005 to 2008 cars. Very few people know how to modify the tune to compensate for the differences. It can be done but you'd have to spend $100 in credits to gain access to your tune in the ECM with HP tuners. Then you'd have to pay a competent tuner to make those changes for you.

There are numerous of threads on this forum about this.

Yeah, so like I said - the LS3 TB will work on a LS2.
