08 c6 a6 A&A As i was driving home today at about 60 mph when a lady changed lanes in front of me and than slowed down.Changed lane to go around and kind of punched it and it was like the transmission went into neutral, not like a slip but just like it was bumped into neutral. After i let off it went back to normal and was ok. Anyone here ever had that problem or any ideas.
No idea. Others will ck in. I'd do a "search" from above in red band; go to "advanced", use "key words" in C6 Gen and Tech. I wouldn't drive it until I find out what it is. BTW, when was the last time you changed/checked AT fluid? There is a specific methodology and it was written up in a thread very recently.
Sometimes that behavior is called a shift flare...that could be a search term for you also. If it were a THM 400, the behavior would be caused by low fluid level. The force of the acceleration or turning causes the fluid to slosh in the pan and the pump sucks air for a fraction of a second. This air goes into the converter and causes a momentary slip.
I've had tranny's slip before on other cars but was not like a slip but more like it was just bumped into neutral. Was thinking could it be a computer glitch or maybe something in the shifter. It also went away in a second and was fine the rest of the way home.
I bought the car in March the A&A kit long tubes were on it and i'm sure the tune was done after instalation. The dealer i got it from dealer in S.C. put a shift solenoid in the tranny but has run and shifted fine since.
I would be surprised if it had anything to do with the shifter, but if it's not low fluid, then I remember that some on the forum have had luck with re-programming the transmission control module (TCM). You might try searching for 'shift flare' and tcm also.
Does not sound at all like shift flair .... and sounds all about that shift selonoid....
Shift flair is a slip at certain rpm while upshifting caused by not enought preasure on the clutch packs . A few rpm below the point of flair and a few above and the trans shifts normal
If you have shift flair , believe me you will know it
The TCM's ablity to self learn your driving habits is the cause of it . Drive slow and the trans learns that it does not need as much preasure reduces it causing the flair ....
At no time does it feel like the trans is in neutral and only happens on the upshift
Putting the TCM in relearn with a TECH 11 cured my flair in a matter of minutes
Since we dicussed the more aggressive driving to get rid of the shift flairs my car has been doing great.I have been driving it with the paddles more and shifting it at higher rpms.Wed. i was in drive when i punched it to go around the crazy lady that passed me and then went to half speed and it went to about 4000 rpm's and quickly went back to normal.Going to take it to Bill Holt Monday and get the fluid level checked.I do have access to a Tech 11 and that will be my next thought. As far as the shift solenoid i think it was for first or second gear that got replaced.
If the TCM was reprogrammed after the SC was installed can it be put back to stock or should it be back to stock.
It wouldn't surprise me if it was reprogrammed. But to answer your question of should it be tuned trans or stock tune for trans, I'd say you'd need to talk with trans/car tuners and tell them what's been done to the car. Then they can tell you what might be optimal for your car. If you're in Georgia, I've heard of Vengeance Racing.
