Have an '09 with LS3 and Airaid intake. Ordered ported throttle body and know headers and tune are the next step so looking for real world results and experiences.
when i did heads/headers/tune on my Z i got 45whp

What do ya think ?? Oh and at a substantial reduction in money spent.

Let me know how it works if you get one OK ? Seems like a good idea

I will, after the holidays im planning cam/headers/cai. And with the vette air if im feeling lucky. Something to look forward to. Ill post here if i have any surging. I know the halltech helps the car idle smoother and helps get rid of surging. I heard the vette air causes surging on stock intakes but can be fixed with a good tune. Something about too much wind turbulence for maf

Or just get the VARARAM and be done with it .........

Vararam = higher upfront cost ... no CEL, no SURGE ... NO need to tune , pulls " REAL" cold air from the front of the car and not the area shared by the AIRCOND condenser and Radiator . HOXXOH has shown us real world gains because the ECM is not pulling timing as the ITA's are lower ( and this guys knows what he is doing and actually races his car ..... )

HaLTech- Vette Air and all the others = MAF issues , need to tune which offsets the money that was saved by not buying the VARARAM in the first place . not pulling real cold air ... = Save your money ......

Just my 2 cents ....

If you are buying headers and exhaust at the same time, buy parts that are for a Z06. That way you will have full 3" from collector to the muffler, no neck downs.

unless he needs them to neck down to 2 1/2 to fit his mufflers
Dont have to be a zO6 system , you can just specify what you want
LG's are a full 3 inch pipe all the way back to the muffler and on mine i asked for the neckdown so they would fit my NPP mufflers

This is what I went with:

http://www.wildvettes.com/product_in...products_id/64

and

http://marylandspeed.com/corsa-xtrem...69-p-1269.html

As much as I'd love to do a cam right now I am going to hold off. I just spent a pretty penny on suspension and brake mods too. I am just debating on if a cold air intake is worth it.

A good mild cam, cai, and a tune is a good 60-70+hp. If your going to hold off... dont tune your car. Tune it when you get your cam. A tune or dyno tune can cost 450-700 bucks.

That was the plan. I won't be driving it since it's winter so I figured I would do that in the spring.

So far I have the following:

Corsa Xtreme Exhaust
LG Headers and X-Pipe
MSD Plug Wires
NGK Plugs
160 Degree Thermostat
Sway Bar Kit
Bilstein Sport Shocks
Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors
EBC Yellow Stuff Pads
Stop Tech Stainless braided lines
New wheels and tires

I figured that was a good start. The only other mods I have planned is an intake, cold air intake, short throw shifter, cam (and all the parts that go with it), and some head work. I am not looking for massive power, just something healthy. I have been there and done that with a 1000 hp pro street car and it's just not much fun.

At least, this is what lg showed me what their cam kit comes with:

-camshaft (duh)

-'921' dual springs

-spring seats

-spring retainers

-valve seals

-pushrods

-timing chain

-cam sprocket

-cam sprocket bolts

-chain damper

-balancer bolt

Cant go wrong dealing with Damion from Wild Vettes , he will not steer you wrong .......

Those LG's will bolt right up and you dont have to worry about frying anything .... plenty of clearance , well made

The x pipe will drive you a bit nuts as its 3 sections , the cats , the x pipe and the connector pipes . They have to all be at the right angle and the right position to get it all to line up and not leak

While its out of the car take the time to make sure they all slide togther and turn easly as you will have to move them around a bit . If they dont fit loosely on the ground , massage them. You will be happy you did .

Dont forget to think thru the positioning of the clamps before you have it all togther... you dont want any of the clamps hanging down and after everything is in place its a real pain in tge A××÷ to move them around

Good luck and let us know how it all turns out

Here is the dyno of my car before and after headers. As you can see it picks up power everywhere. It is somewhat noticeable. Biggest difference is the sound.

Very nice! I'd love to do the cam right now but that is a decent amount of money, time, and work to do that. 450-500 rwhp would be plenty for me. As long as it looks good, sounds good, handles well, and is fairly quick I will be happy.

For those who did the cam did you do a kit like the LG or did you piece everything together?

After 10 years of owning my '07 (Z51 ), I finally installed 1 3/4 Super Long Tubes w/their X, Heat Buster, and tunnel plate. Dyno'd, of course. Already had my Vararam, ported tb, and Borla Sports/Aggressive (w/ x their X). Did away with the Borla X and used LG's since it was recommended by LG. Noticeable difference in pull and big difference in sound. Rumbles mean now. Took a long time to do what a lot dowith theirs right off the bat. I had heard some negatives over the years and had really wanted to blow it with the Edlebrock, however, couldn't justify the $$$'s at this point. And like everyone knows, headers are fairly reasonable. So all in all, it's better than it was and funner to drive. Also, like seeing other drivers expressions when I "burble and pop" past um. Always got thumbs up and compliments before from everyone with just my Borla, but now it flat out scares um .
