Default 2006 c-6 temperature

good morning fellow vetters , just bought this 2006 c-6 LS2 6 speed corvette my 5th one , i am a old gear head from the 70" and 80" still a mechanic and own my own business , only had the car about 3 weeks dorve it back form arlington Virginia , all expressway no problems , brought it home and covered it up took it out the other day nice day temp in the 50"s and though town i am running all but 220 degrees !!!! any vetters had this problem and can render a proven solution ????? please advise // ets vet 2016 out

Temps should be under 200*. Check for something blocking the radiator. You did not have problem when you drove it last. Or coolant leak.

Check for radiator blockage, check for fan operation (common failure) and check coolant level/condition. Vettes pretty much need the radiator area cleaned/cleared out every 1-2 years. Stuff loves to build up and block all the airflow.

just picked it up in arlington virginia drove all open expressway home // with some town traffic 175 miles no issues ran fine temp around 200

In traffic 200-220 is normal. Mine usually fluctuates between 214-218 in heavy traffic.

thanks for the post // with all the aluminum this temp scares me ive rebuilt to many aluminum heads to feel good about running this c-6 ls2 at that temp /// has any body tried installing the 2 speed manual override control assy sold on the forum parts site ??? if so any comments will be appreciated /// etsvet 2016 out

I wouldn't worry about melting the engine. Mine's run that hot for 11 years and 135K miles.

I've read thousands of posts over the years from members whose cars run as hot as mine and almost as many posts who insist it's abnormal. There seems to be a large variability in running temperature and I'm not sure exactly what accounts for it.

Car will flag a warning around 250f when it is too hot.
