Locked out | Dead Bat | lost key | LT Headers blocking starter | Help !
Members,
So haven't driven the Vette in 3+ weeks and I didn't plug up my battery tender (I know shame on me). my wife has "misplaced" her Key fob, and the only key I had to access the trunk in times like this (Maybe it was the maid ??!!). i have ARH long tube headers so I cannot access the starter to place the batter changer on there to get power to pop the doors...
so... can I back feed power via the tail lights, to get enough power to pop the door or do i have to suck it up and either lock smith it or call Chevy for a new key?
I've read at least one case of someone feeding power thru the tail light circuit and bring able to open the door. I don't understand how it works but apparently it did.
I didn't get a key when I bought my vert. Just figured I'd get on at the dealer. Well, they registration came up with the wrong code, so no key from them. A local locksmith made a key from scratch and gave me the code if need be. Took him about an hour to figure out the cuts and charged me $60.
Soooooo if you have a blood pressure cuff work it in between window and rubber seal pump it up enough to get a wire hook to the floor and lift the emergency release. Bill
