Default Shifter/**** Question

So when I purchased my 05 recently, it came with the b&m ripper shifter and a black hurst ball ****. Now this shifter feels good, works wel, but.....

1. I hate the round ball over the stock c6 ****

And

2. The extreme notchiness between neutral and each gear.

Now I do make a handful of WOT quick shifts, and I've been told the aftermarket shifters are good at preventing you from causing to much damage. I've also read that you can slip a washer through a bolt on the back of transmission to help with the notchiness. You guys recommend that?

Is there a way to get the stock ball to work with this shifter?

Of course I'd like to try mgw or Hinson but reality is I have a working shifter and don't see the reason to spend so much on a new shifter when I could invest that money back into making it alittle faster.

Thanks for any input guys.

I did the RANGER MOD to my C5 Z06 . It helped some of the notchy feeling. I used just one brass washer. You can find post with pics.

I went from my C6 stock shifter to a Ball shifter and perfer that for the type of driving I do. For me the ball provided a shorter shift pattern, however I am not doing to many power shifts.

I had the B&M shifter and it allows you to install your stock shifter.

Hope this helps
