Default floor jacks

I wanted to purchase a floor jack for my son as a birthday gift but from what I have been told it has to be one that goes extra low. Is it better to get a hydraulic one? What is recommended?

If your son does not have a set of jack stands I suggest you get them when buying the jack.

I would not want to rely on just a jack when working under a car.

Let's keep our sons safe.

I have two from Harbor Flee but the one to get is the steel two tone 23" lift cause is very low profile deep reach and can lift from center front center rear or center side very high if need to is the must versatile as well no need for second floor jack ever.

I agree with others, go to harbor freight and get the biggest lowest jack they have. Then buy two any size jack stands. Doing this I still have to use four 2x4 pieces under each tire that i drive up on. Then I can jack car from front and rear center spot. They have jack pads, but you can also use small pieces of cut 2x4 on top of jack stands to protect our fiber/wood underbody.

True that may I add I use jack stand polyurethane jack pads sold by H FLEE as well to keep jack stands corvette friendly and have a round 5" floor jack polyurethane saddle pad sold by summit racing using this I can lift the steel body car from side center fast and friendly.
